It was fantastic to host the Driving Change Together Breakfast with UK in Australia ahead of the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix! 🙌 With 50+ business leaders, government representatives and sport industry trailblazers in attendance 🦾 We had brilliant discussions on Sustainability in Sport, led by British Consul General Louise Cantillon, with insights from Emirates GBR Driver Dylan Fletcher-Scott MBE, Strategist Hannah Mills, and sustainability superstar Lottie Dalziel, Founder & CEO of Banish. 💚 At Emirates GBR, we’re constantly looking for ways to reduce waste and make sustainable choices—especially when updating our kit with new partners. Vicki Treadell kicked off her farewell tour in Hobart - celebrating six years as UK High Commissioner to Australia! During her visit, Vicki had the chance to: 🤝 Meet with the Governor of Tasmania, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, to discuss our network approach to Australia, reflect on Vicki’s time in Australia, and the UK's top priorities in Tasmania. 🏔️ Visit the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD), where Vicki learnt about what AAD and Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) are focussing on over the coming years. This visit was of particular interest with the UK now the chair of the CCAMLR. 🤝 Meet the new Deputy Premier of Tasmania Guy Barnett MP, to discuss our approach to Australia.  🎖️ Visit the Anglesea Barracks, where Vicki had an opportunity to say thank you to Defence Australia for their annual hosting and remembrance of the Battle of Britain commemorations. Vicki had the chance to tour one of Australia’s oldest running military barracks, including the British memorial and museum.   🤝 Meet The Hon. Jonathon Duniam to discuss the UK-Australia relationship, emphasise our approach to Australia, and our top priorities in Tasmania. 🎙️ Attend a UK Reception for our key contacts in Tasmania, where Vicki delivered a short speech, reflecting on her time spent in Tasmania. 🏏 Attended the England v Australia One Day International Match, where Vicki tossed the coin ahead of the match before watching from the sidelines as a guest of Cricket Australia. Global Victoria and Invest Victoria was delighted to welcome the British High Commissioner to Australia, Vicki Treadell 𝐂𝐌𝐆 𝐌𝐕𝐎, to speak at an Australian British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) event in Melbourne. As the High Commissioner enters her final weeks in Australia, the ABCC event was a valuable opportunity to reflect on the significant developments achieved during her time, including the signing of the 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚-𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭—a landmark, modern comprehensive trade deal strengthening ties between our two nations—and the 𝐀𝐔𝐊𝐔𝐒 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 alongside the United States. A great business lunch at the Investment Centre Victoria on Friday, farewelling Her Excellency Vicki Treadell CMG, MVO, the longest serving British High Commissioner to Australia. The High Commissioner delivered a rousing address on the power of the UK-Australia and the UK-Victorian relationship, undoubtedly part of the incredible legacy she will leave behind. The High Commissioner was then joined by the Hon Danny Pearson MP, Minister for Economic Growth. Five days into his new role at his first international public meet, Minister Pearson welcomed investment across Victoria’s economy, famous for industrial manufacturing, research and innovation, and focus on skills! This week I was fortunate enough to meet up with Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change the Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio along with our High Commissioner Vicki Treadell, DCG Oonagh Lewis and APAC clean energy lead Richard Burch. We discussed the success of our recent Offshore Wind mission to the UK and how we might build further on our 🇦🇺 🇬🇧 relationship in this sector. We also discussed how the UK might assist with supply chains in the region, in both Offshore Wind, energy storage and the newly emerging hydrogen sector. The key to success will be to have a diverse energy mix with various technologies delivering our power needs for the future.
