🌇Premier announces planning system shakeup at Bradfield Oration🌇 At The Daily Telegraph’s Bradfield Oration, Premier Chris Minns unveiled the government’s latest planning system reform. This time, going further to cut red tape and pave the way for faster housing approvals, overriding local government planning controls. Key highlights: ✅A new Housing Delivery Authority will oversee a new State Significant Development (SSD) pathway and spot rezonings for major housing projects to be considered at the same time. ✅Projects over $60 million in Greater Sydney and $30 million in the regions will be considered through an expression of interest scheme. The Property Council has advocated for bolder reforms to address the current underperformance in meeting our Housing Accord Targets, and todays announcement does just that. We congratulate the Premier, Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully and the team at the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for this next step in bringing more homes to the people of NSW. We look forward to further consultation on these reforms ahead of their introduction early in 2025. #BradfieldOration #housingsupply #housingaffordability #NSW Katie Stevenson Kiersten Fishburn Tom Gellibrand Simon Draper

Development Applications... 😐 Many councils have stepped up to the task, but still too many are underperforming and letting the side down. Reports today that more than 8,500 DAs are stuck in the pipeline means there's no more room for excuses ⚡ The Government's own league table shows only just over half of councils are meeting their targets - after four months of welcome scrutiny. Our advocacy saw the Government introduce 'red card' Performance Improvement Order powers to penalise councils that fail to deliver 🟥 Now it's time to use these powers. #HousingCrisis #HousingAccord #BuildingApprovals
