Have you been to the beach lately? 🏖 You may have seen plastic bottles and other litter nestled in the sand or floating in the water. In Europe, 80% of marine litter is plastic, produced on land, which ends up in the sea. This is a major problem for our coastal and marine areas because: 🐬 48,000 species depend on healthy coastal ecosystems in Europe. 🐡 So does half of the EU population living less than 50km from the sea. That is why we support innovative research to prevent, reduce and remove marine litter and plastic waste for cleaner beaches, seas and oceans!
