We are proud to announce that Nutrition International has donated 60,000 bottles of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) to the District Health Authority of Swabi, #Pakistan. This contribution was made during the MMS handing-over ceremony at the District Health Office, and it marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to improve #MaternalHealth. The donation is part of the Increase Gains in Nutrition by Integration, Education, Evaluation & Empowerment (IGNIT3) project, aimed at preventing #aneamia among pregnant women, especially adolescents. This initiative aligns with the World Health Organization’s updated antenatal care guidelines and is supported by the Government of Canada. The ceremony was chaired by Dr. Abdul Latif, District Health Officer, and featured notable attendees, including Dr. Shabina Raza, Country Director of Nutrition International, Dr. Khalid Masud, Director BKMC Swabi, and several other esteemed members of the District Health Management Team. During the event, Dr. Huma Chishti, Project Coordinator for MMS, emphasized the crucial role of MMS in enhancing maternal health, particularly in addressing the nutritional needs of pregnant women. This collaboration will ensure that more women in Swabi have access to the essential #micronutrients they need for a healthy pregnancy. Together, we are building a healthier future for mothers and children in Pakistan.

This #WorldFoodDay, we celebrate the global commitment to achieving #ZeroHunger for everyone, everywhere. In #Bangladesh, fortified rice distribution through social safety net programs is helping nourish communities, providing essential #micronutrients to combat #malnutrition. As we reflect on this year’s World Food Day theme, "Water is Life, Water is Food", we recognize that ensuring access to nutritious food is inseparable from access to clean water and sustainable agricultural practices. We're working toward a future where nutritious food reaches every person, regardless of where they live or their economic status. Together, we can #EndHunger, promote #NutritionForAll, and build resilient food systems that nourish the world. Recent evidence has encouraged low- and middle-income countries to consider transitioning from #iron and #FolicAcid supplementation (IFAS) to #MultipleMicronutrientSupplementation (MMS) for #AntenatalCare programs. However, global guidance to facilitate this transition is limited. In response, Nutrition International created the MMS Cost-Benefit Tool to generate estimates on the potential health, budget and economic impacts of switching from IFAS to MMS.
