BEPS is an acronym for Building Energy Performance Standards. It refers to laws regulating energy use for buildings by local, district, and state governments. Currently, the only parts of the DMV with active BEPS laws are the District of Columbia and Montgomery County, Maryland. The Maryland state legislature is finalizing issuing its state-wide BEPS program and is scheduled to become active in 2025.
