CLIMATE CHANGE REQUIRES COLLECTIVE ACTION! TOGETHER WE CREATE NEW PERSPECTIVES
Info
The global challenge of climate change requires collective action. Switzerland therefore wants to bring its CO2 emissions to net zero by 2050 at the latest. As part of the solution, the NTN Innovation Booster Plastics for Zero Emission relies on the strengths of the Swiss plastics industry. Together with the research community, disruptive ideas are sought and promoted to avoid CO2 emissions and develop negative emission technologies. By cooperation of all partners in the value chain, economic potentials are released and jobs are created in Switzerland.

Wow, what a great ideation workshop we held this week Wednesday at tibits in Lausanne together with Bambooster! #swissinnovationbooster More than 40 participants, including representatives from EPFL, ZHAW Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, Polymer Technologies @ FHNW, OST – Ostschweizer Fachhochschule, HES-SO Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale, HSLU Hochschule Luzern, Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI), KATZ. In addition to large companies such as EMS Group, Sika, ARBURG Switzerland, Hamilton, and 3A Composites, there were also fine, highly innovative companies such as CORKBRICK EUROPE, JACOMET Ski, LUUUP, Bloom Biorenewables and Auftriib, to name just a few of the participants. Aurélie Moser 🚀 and Geraldine Mercier, PhD from Bambooster once again led the event confidently and with great vigour and the feedback from the participants at the end of the event showed that all participants were able to make many new and helpful contacts, that they were able to deepen their innovative ideas, that they gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and - very importantly - that the expectations of the event were met by all participants, and for many even exceeded. It will be interesting to see which 5 of the 11 challenges presented will be chosen by the jury. These will then each receive CHF 25,000 in funding from Innosuisse and will be able to pursue the various solutions further. Alongside Aurélie Moser 🚀 and Geraldine Mercier, PhD from Bambooster, as well as Raphael Hatem and Salomé DELEAVAL from Swiss Plastics Cluster, we would like to express our thanks to all participants for their great and constructive cooperation.

Can you bend stones without them breaking? (Spoiler: yes, you can) How do you store CO2 in recycled concrete? How do the Swiss plastics and textile industries deal with the 2050 climate targets? Can you make a shoe out of CO2? (Spoiler: yap) How can macroalgae be used to regenerate ecosystems and permanently remove carbon? These and many other exciting questions were discussed at yesterday's conference "Exploring Negative Emission Technologies in the Plastic Industry and Beyond" at the Empa Academy in Dübendorf. Close to 50 participants found their way to Dübendorf and were able to exchange views on these and other topics. A big thank you goes to the representatives of Bundesamt für Umwelt BAFU, Empa, EPFL, KUNSTSTOFF.swiss, neustark, Swiss Textiles, On, TechnoCarbonTechnologies Switzerland GmbH, KohlenKraft, RECOAL AG, HYPHEN GLOBAL AG, V Carbon and Open Climate Solutions and especially to the co-organisers at Innovation Booster Carbon Removal, sus.lab | ETH and Empa for their great support. Last call!! Join us at this exciting conference on Negative Emission Technologies next week at Empa in Dübendorf #swissinnovationbosster Innosuisse
Together with our partner Innovation Booster Carbon Removal, we would like to invite you to a conference at Empa in Dübendorf on 6 June. As various industries are beginning their journey towards net zero, we invite you to gain insights into existing approaches to mitigating CO2 emissions in different sectors and to explore novel and innovative ideas for achieving carbon removal beyond emissions reductions. We aim to bring together established industry players, scientists, and start-ups in order to exchange thoughts and discuss ideas for advancing the industry towards net zero together. In addition, you will have the chance to visit NEST – the modular research and innovation building of Empa and Eawag where new technologies, materials and systems are tested, researched and further developed under real conditions. Finally, alumni and current participants of the Innovation Booster Plastics for Zero Emission and the Innovation Booster Carbon Removal will share their experiences of participating in the program and developing radical ideas. In addition to exciting presentations from On, neustark, Swiss Textiles, and others, you can also expect two keynotes from Bundesamt für Umwelt BAFU and Empa on Negative Emissions Technologies. We would also like to invite young, dynamic companies and entrepreneurs to apply for presentations in the start-up and idea pitching session on this topic. Get involved and make an active contribution to the success of this event. Let's make a difference together. #swissinnovationbooster Innosuisse
