The Never Hut, a project that reimagines a historic elementary school playground in Yanqiao Village, Foshan. Combining playful design with local materials, the installation celebrates childhood memories while creating a gathering space for the community. Supported by three “tentacles” crafted from fishing nets, its flying saucer form responds to the breeze, blending movement and stillness with the surrounding landscape. Under its colorful eaves, villagers and visitors alike find a space for rest, reflection, and connection. As part of the festival’s ongoing dialogue between art and place, The Never Hut is a celebration of imagination, culture, and community. #MADarchitects #MaYansong #TheNeverHut #GuangdongNanhaiLandArtFestival #ArchitectureAndCulture #CommunityDesign

We’re excited to share the latest construction update for Lishui (LIJ) Airport, which is nearing completion and set to open by the end of 2024. Designed to harmonize with the mountainous terrain of Lishui, the airport features a terraced layout that follows the natural contours of the land, integrating the terminal, parking, and office areas into descending platforms. This approach creates a piece of infrastructure that blends functionality with a deep connection to its surroundings. The 12,000-square-meter terminal prioritizes an intimate, human-centered travel experience. A flowing, silver-white roof supported by 14 umbrella-shaped columns brings natural light into the space, while wood-toned finishes and a compact one-and-a-half-story design create a sense of comfort and efficiency. By integrating architecture and landscape, Lishui Airport reflects the city’s identity as a “forest city,” offering a welcoming experience that balances nature and convenience. With an initial capacity of one million passengers annually, expandable to five million by 2050, the design ensures the airport can grow alongside the region’s needs while staying rooted in its connection to the land. #LishuiAirport #MaYansong #MADarchitects #InfrastructureDesign #ArchitectureAndNature #Airport #Architecture #Design #Lishui

We are proud and honored to share that Quzhou Stadium has received the BLT Built Design Awards , recognizing the dedication of professionals worldwide who bring outstanding projects to life. Our vision for Quzhou Stadium was to create an urban space that transcends a typical 30,000-seat sports venue, integrating it seamlessly into the landscape as a unique land art park. Inspired by the natural terrain of Quzhou, the design merges concrete structures with earth-sheltered landscapes, allowing the stadium to blend into its surroundings like a volcanic cluster and mirror lake. Designed to be open and accessible from nearly every angle, Quzhou Stadium is a cultural and ecological landmark that invites public interaction while preserving the area’s natural beauty. #QuzhouStadium #MADArchitects #MaYansong #BLTAward #LandArt #UrbanDesign #ArchitectureAndNature
