It is a wrap for the 2024 edition of the EU #RawMaterialsWeek in Brussels!   Over the span of four days, resource diplomacy took center stage with the presence of high-level delegations from a diverse array of countries including #Argentina, #DRC, #Zambia, #Canada, #Uzbekistan, #Norway, #Greenland, #Kazakhstan, #SouthAfrica, #Brazil, and the #US.   #FLS was honored to present to these delegations, showcasing how technology and innovation can drive more sustainable and profitable mining of critical minerals.   Our EMEA Regional President, Bernard Kaninda, delivered a powerful message encapsulated in the essence of: “We are ready to partner!” This sentiment resonated throughout the event, highlighting our commitment to collaboration and innovation.   A key takeaway from the week was the consensus that the missing link continues to be the lack of financing and the critical role of public authorities in de-risking private investments. While there are numerous promising projects on the horizon, the bottlenecks have been clearly identified. Now is the time to address these challenges and responsibly unlock the untapped potential.   A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this week both possible and valuable. New HPGR order in India reinforces FLSmidth’s global leadership for HPGR. This new order in India includes the delivery of two of the world’s largest HPGRs and a service agreement. Earlier this year, FLSmidth received orders for seven HPGRs as well as a strategic cooperation agreement with the commitment for six HPGRs. With this new order in India, FLSmidth has received a total of 15 HPGR orders or commitments in 2024. This is a clear testament to the strength of FLSmidth’s market leading HPGR technology and our best-in-class life cycle services. “This new order further expands our market leading position for HPGR technologies. I am obviously very pleased about this. The curtains have closed on COP29 Azerbaijan, a climate conference focused this year on unlocking finance while maintaining the necessary level of ambition in a complex geopolitical context. The last-minute deal has been met with mixed feelings, but it can serve as a foundation for future improvements.   At FLS, we support the highest level of ambition in climate policy. This year, we engaged on the ground to demonstrate that solutions exist to mitigate the impact of both mining and cement, and to accelerate the energy transition. In Baku, our Global Head of Public Affairs, Nour Amrani, participated in several discussions on the role of critical raw materials for the energy transition. Nour highlighted:   “Clearly, the discussion on critical minerals has become more prominent over the past couple of years. The multiplication of global initiatives focused on transition minerals, whether led by the public or private sectors or combined, demonstrates that continuous efforts to build awareness and political momentum are paying off.   Critical minerals are now on the COP Agenda – they are increasingly understood as the backbone for a just and equitable transition, provided it is done well and that investments are being mobilized. Earlier this week, a high-level delegation from FLS travelled to Islamabad, Pakistan, to celebrate the 75 years of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Pakistan. Last week, the European Union organised a high-level seminar in Santiago #Chile, bringing together Chilean Leaders, policy-makers and industry experts to discuss sustainable and responsible value chains in #criticalrawmaterials.   Our colleague, Felipe Espinoza Martin, had the opportunity to present how we have been supporting for decades the Chilean mining industry with state-of-the-art mineral processing technology and continuous innovation.    In Chile and around the world, FLS is committed to provide innovative solutions to support most sustainable and productive mining using less energy, less water, less emissions while increasing recovery rates.
