  • When an ICEYE satellite is in a one-day repeating ground track, it means that the same location is seen from exactly the same imaging geometry - this is extremely useful when trying to detect change. The latest generations of ICEYE satellites are all set up to perform Ground Track Repeat (GTR) collections. The two images shown here are examples of GTR collection imagery over an air base. The image from November 5th, 2024, shows two MI-26 Hind helicopters sitting on the runway. The image collected from the same location two days later, on November 7th, 2024, shows two MI-26 Hind helicopters with a very different set of rotor signatures. The obvious question is: "Why do the helicopters look so different?" The answer requires another tool. Because we collect for 25 seconds, we usually also make a video with reduced azimuth resolution (25cm) as the satellite moves past. Find out how the video helped us solve the puzzle: https://hubs.li/Q03cFRtH0

  • The January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires weren’t just another California fire event. They marked a disturbing evolution in wildfire behavior that demands new approaches to disaster intelligence: 🔥 Unlike remote wildfires, these blazes had unprecedented urban interface impact and directly threatened densely populated neighborhoods 🔥 Extreme Santa Ana winds grounded most aerial assessment capabilities for days 🔥 Rapid fire progression outpaced traditional response protocols The ICEYE Solutions team provided insurers and federal, state, and local agencies with observed data at a 99% precision rate. We delivered initial results within 24 hours of detecting smoke and weeks before on-ground assessments were completed. Dive into our event analysis at https://hubs.li/Q03cvrTr0
