Thanks for passing by our space with your team. As highlighted, people are at the heart of our efforts to transition Africa into clean technologies. How do we make sure no one is left behind? How do we fund and make affordable the sustainable alternatives being designed? Certainly, it will be a long-term game. However, a stand and a commitment must be made. We are glad to be unwavering in our innovation to improve African mobility systems by providing a flexible and affordable path to e-bike ownership.

❓ How can Article 6 Carbon Credits impact lives? For Ghanaians like Haiamah, Salamah and Patrick, it means helping them transition from pollutive charcoal cook stoves to cleaner electric ones. These electric cook stoves saves them money, time and are safer. Salamah told me she’s happy she can cook indoors, set a timer and don’t need to worry about fires as she tends to her infant 👶. The problem is funding these cook stoves sustainably. That’s where carbon credits come in. Companies like BURN, who manufacture them and sell them here, track how they are used and report it. They could then generate Art 6 carbon credits for sale to companies who need them to offset their carbon emissions and reduce their carbon tax liabilities. Our Singapore-Ghana Carbon credits implementation agreement can help. We also visited Wahu Mobility Ltd., founded by the impressive young Ghanaian Valerie Labi. Wahu is helping Ghanaian delivery riders transition from petrol bikes (which cost around US$220 to run per month, to electric bikes which costs US$14 to run per month because of inflation, taxes and fuel costs). Wahu can also track and monitor usage and how much carbon would have been emitted had their Wahu rider used petrol instead of electric Wahu bikes. Again, carbon credits can help provide capital. These are real life stories of how we can make a tangible impact on the ground, help make lives better, reduce carbon and tackle the climate challenge as a global community.
