Denim is seen everywhere from luxurious designer windows to fast fashion brands. Jeans, traditionally made of #denim, remain one of the most popular fashion items in the world. However, #jeans manufacturing is responsible for one of the fashion industry’s biggest #carbon #footprints and has been significantly contributing to #climatechange. There are various ways to make denim production more #sustainable, such as using organic #cotton and exploring alternative dyeing and finishing methods. This past month our Hong Kong team embraced Redress's #GetRedressedMonth initiative. We've taken significant strides towards sustainable fashion with the theme #YourClothesOurPlanet, engaging in activities that prompt us to rethink our relationship between clothing and the #environment and our actions towards clothing #sustainability. Here are some of the highlights: 1. Clothing Drive: We launched with two collection boxes, inviting our colleagues to donate their unwanted clothes. The response was overwhelming, and we filled both boxes and sent them off to #Redress, ensuring they were meticulously sorted and diverted from landfills. 2. Educational Talk: Aurianne Ricquier, Circular Fashion Programme Director from Redress , hosted a talk in our office, highlighting the importance of #circularfashion and the issue of clothing waste. The event sparked a lively conversation among our team on embracing eco-conscious #fashion habits. 3. Sort-A-Thon: In a display of community and commitment, six of our volunteers rolled up their sleeves to sort through 1500kg of clothing. The clothes will be resold, reused, or downcycled. The team’s dedication was a testament to our collective effort to support Redress's mission and make a tangible impact. Our commitment doesn't end here. We're dedicated to integrating sustainable practices into our daily lives and making #sustainablefashion the norm.

In this year’s Hafencity run, 19 of our Hamburg office colleagues displayed their dedication to making a difference. The event aimed to garner attention and funds for Hamburger Abendblat hilft – an organisation dedicated to helping children and young adults who have been neglected, ill or disabled, or live in difficult conditions. It's moments like these that remind us of the power of #community and the #impact we can make when we unite for a good cause. Congratulations to all our runners! #HafencityRun

Textile Exchange published a comprehensive report, “The Future of Synthetics”, detailing a roadmap towards a more sustainable future for #synthetic #fibres in the textile industry. Synthetic fibres make up more than 60% of the volume of all textile fibres used in a range of commercial products such as apparel, home textile, and footwear. However, synthetic fibres are inherently unsustainable due to the fossil fuels used in their production, like petrochemicals. All of these have exacerbated a plethora of environmental issues, such as #water #pollution and #greenhousegas emissions. Follow the link to learn about the key takeaways from Textile Exchange’s report: https://lnkd.in/g6uKjMP6 #corporateresponsibility #sustainability

Great news from Hong Kong! This week we had an inspiring meeting with our team from Otto International, we reviewed the progress of our new sourcing strategy: #Science-Based Targets: We discussed the implications and opportunities of these regulations for our procurement process. It's inspiring to see how we can adapt while simultaneously making a positive contribution to environmental protection. #HR and Inspection Supply Chain Software: Working with our partners Workday and TradeBeyond, we implemented new modules in these systems to significantly advance in the digitalization of our internal processes. We are making progress in how consistently we manage our business around the world. #Business Opportunities with New Clients: We are expanding our network of customers considerably and are looking forward to collaborating with new partners. As you can see, an exciting trip. We are ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. #OttoGroup #OttoInternational #Innovation #Transformation #Sustainability
