Senior leadership support is key to any successful innovation programme, which is why welcoming Donal Phelan, Head of Innovation at ESB, to Dogpatch to wrap up the first week of the ESB X_Potential Incubator played a key motivational role, where he listened to each team present their progress so far. His feedback was invaluable as he urged the teams to stay laser-focused on the customer's core problem—reminding them not to get distracted by the technology until they’re sure they’re solving the right issue. Stripe’s John Collison in Dogpatch shared a similar narrative a few weeks ago. Donal also shared some powerful advice on how to embed the lessons learned from this programme and bolster that innovative mindset back to ESB. He encouraged the teams to leave cynicism behind and remember to ask, "What would it take to make this idea work?" His excitement about the programme was clear: “It’s incredible to see the growth and development of both the teams and the individuals.” The ESB teams return to Dogpatch Labs in October after making progress on their net zero ventures, where they'll learn from more entrepreneurs and industry experts to further these ventures. Stay tuned. #Innovation #Leadership

We were delighted to support the deployment of two Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) which powered the broadcast coverage at the DP World Tour Amgen Irish Open. This was the first sporting event in Ireland to power its live television production and global broadcast exclusively with green hydrogen. Jim Dollard, our Executive Director, Generation and Trading, commented: This initiative will enhance our understanding of the role green hydrogen will play in the net zero energy system and how it can be harnessed to benefit the environment, the sports industry, and the community at large.”  The collaboration involved GeoPura, Film and TV Services, PGA EUROPEAN TOUR PRODUCTIONS LIMITED and IMG. #ESBNetZeroFuture #AmgenIrishOpen

Another significant milestone in our net zero journey was achieved this week with the first export of green electricity from our Timahoe North Solar Farm site in Co Kildare. The 108MW Timahoe North Solar Farm is the first large scale solar project to be delivered as part of our co-development agreement with Bord na Móna to develop up to 500MW of solar energy. This has been achieved through collaborating and working alongside our project partners to deliver this significant step in achieving our net zero carbon emissions by 2040 target. Once operational, it will generate enough green electricity to power approximately 25,000 Irish homes. #ESBNetZeroFuture #TimahoeNorth #SolarEnergy #BNM #PartnersInNaturalEnergy

We were awarded the Jim Mc Naughton/TileStyle Perpetual Award for Best Commissioning Practice at the Business to Arts Awards for our partnership with Dublin Dance Festival for 'Kindred'. Kindred, a selected project from the ESB Brighter Future Arts Fund, was an innovative digital dance installation exploring nature and human connection. We also made it free for the public to attend at our head office in Dublin for a period of time. Well done to all involved and thank you to the artists and creators we have worked with in bringing Kindred to life. #ESBNetZeroFuture #B2AAwards

Earlier this month, our CEO Paddy Hayes joined fibre broadband operator SIRO for a site visit and audit in Lucan, Co Dublin. SIRO was founded in 2015, as a joint venture between ESB and Vodafone. Since then, SIRO has rolled out its full fibre broadband network, using ESB’s electricity network across Ireland. While Lucan is one of the latest areas in which SIRO is building its fibre network, nationally, SIRO now has a presence in every county in Ireland, with a total of 135 cities and towns part of SIRO’s growing network. SIRO’s network is now available to over 600,000 premises – homes and businesses with the company on track to reach 700,000 premises by 2026. Pictured (l-r) is Suzanne Tracy (CTO, SIRO), Paddy Hayes, Rodney Howard (Build Manager, SIRO), Ana Rita Santo (Safety Manager, Gaeltec) and Martin Bolger (Build Supervisor, SIRO). #ESBNetZeroFuture
