Our Net Zero Pathway Report, published in early 2024, set out concrete 2030 targets for Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and outlined the steps we will take to deliver on these. To get an external perspective on our progress, we commissioned Moody's Investor Services to carry out a third-party assessment of our emissions reduction pathway, using their ‘Net Zero Assessment’ (NZA) methodology. As outlined in the blog published below, Moody’s has assigned ESB an overall NZA score of NZ-3, based on Ambition, Implementation, and Greenhouse Gases (GHG) Governance. Commenting on the assessment, Sharon McManus, our Group Head of Sustainability, said: “It is encouraging to receive this third-party view on our net zero ambitions. We believe it shows we are on the right track as we drive forward to net zero by 2040." Read the blog below for further information. #esbnetzerofuture

ESB reposted this
I recently had the pleasure of hosting the HYreland project partners as we approach the halfway point in the study. HYreland investigates the technological, economic, and environmental potential for the production of green hydrogen and its synthesis products in Ireland. In addition, the study analyses and explores the opportunity to transport these products from Ireland to Germany. Together, we visited ESB's Aghada, Moneypoint, and Ardnacrusha Power Stations, gaining valuable insights into our past, current, and future energy generation potential. We also held a productive team meeting in ESB's Head Office, which reinforced the shared commitment to a sustainable energy future. The visit concluded with a wonderful lunch generously hosted by Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Christian Resch, from the German Embassy. Exciting months ahead as we continue to progress with the study!
