I was delighted to meet with Dr Alan Wall ACMA CGMA and his colleagues at Higher Education Authority to celebrate the publication of the Performance Agreement 2024-2028 between the HEA and Dublin City University, and to expand on our priorities for its implementation. Dublin City University is a publicly funded university dedicated to the public good, and this agreement sets out out our ambitions to deliver key national priority areas of Teaching & Learning, Research & Innovation, Access & Participation, and Engagement. The agreement is grounded in Dublin City University's own strategic plan and it reflects our commitment to our people and place. Coincidentally, yesterday saw the publication of the draft Programme for Government, entitled 'Securing Ireland's Future' by Micheál Martin and Simon Harris. It was gratifying that it reflects a determination to deliver on the priorities identified by the @IrishUniversitiesAssociation. These include the closing annual €307m gap in core funding, investment in research infrastructure, delivering student accommodation, and removing barriers to access. We welcome the recent announcement of an increase in funding for the EEDPP-HE programme to fund further pathfinder initiatives to support the HE sector in meeting energy efficiency and decarbonisation targets. As illustrated in the 2024 IUA Report on Climate Action Roadmap Delivery (https://lnkd.in/eAx92S_E) the cost of decarbonisation across IUA universities is approximately €475m and increased Exchequer funding will be critical if universities are to meet their 2030 decarbonisation targets.  As per our election manifesto priorities (https://lnkd.in/erxHGw5Z) we are calling on the incoming government to commit to delivering a dedicated HE decarbonisation fund to support universities in meeting their decarbonisation targets. #HigherEd #University #Funding #Climate #Decarbonisation #Target Dublin City University, Technological University Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Higher Education Authority, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan, Patrick O'Donovan TD
