I vividly recall the groundbreaking moment in 2014 when the first Smartphone flash sale at Flipkart went live (possibly for a Motorola phone). None of us knew what to expect, we had a print ad, online campaigns etc and we were amazed to see products flying even before 8 am. For most consumers, much before newspaper even reached them we were out of stock. That moment created an all new industry !! Fast forward a decade, mobile flash sales have evolved significantly since then. Today, CheQ partnered with Flipkart and Nothing to give an exclusive Rs. 500 extra discount voucher (over and above all other offers) on CMF by Nothing Phone 1 for their first sale! Like a decade before, I had no idea on what to expect. In no time, we started trending in India (crazy!) and we saw 5X traffic on our app between 12 noon to 1 pm, also some crazy number of downloads. We had thousands of vouchers and they were redeemed (you only needed 125 CheQ Chips to redeem the Rs. 500 voucher) in less than 3 min - and we are not even a commerce platform ! We are thrilled with the results and express gratitude to our partners for their trust in us. Over the last few months, devaluation on credit card rewards program and gimmicky rewards by CC bill payment platforms have been making a lot of news. CheQ doesn’t claim to be the biggest reward program in India, but if you want a rewards program that truly delivers on what it promises, CheQ is the one for you. The three pillars on which it is built is Consistency , Transparency and Tangibility 1. Consistency Every time a bill payment is made, you earn 1% as CheQ Chips. So if you pay a bill of ₹30,000, you earn 300 CheQ Chips. Every single CC bill payment you make brings you value in the form of Chips, regardless of the amount you paid. Do note: a. These Chips have an expiry date of 12 months from the day of issuance.  b. In a month, you can earn up to 4000 CheQ Chips. In short, you earn 1% back till your payment of ₹400,000. 2. Tangibility CheQ Chips are designed to give you real rewards. If you aren’t one for vouchers, that’s fine. You can use your Chips to pay your bills instead. Which means that if you have a 1000 Chips, you can convert them into ₹100 to pay your bills. Basically, 10 CheQ Chips = ₹1. Do note: Converting CheQ Chips to cash is capped at 1000 chips or Rs. 100 per month. 3. Transparency While there have been a couple of changes in 2023 when we were setting the company — our Chips and their values have remained consistent since January 2024. And so have the gains our customers made from them. How? We’ve been particular about spelling out the entire details to the customer instead of burying them within an obscure T&C link. No reading between the lines, no catch that one isn’t aware of. From detailing out the value of Chips requirement to redeem across different brands, to letting you see what the entire process is, we’ve made sure that our customers see what they’re  getting themselves into. No gimmicks whatsoever. We hate them as much as you do. This ensures that YOU hold the power to use your Chips as per YOUR preference and convenience. The end goal remains the same — CheQ Chips don’t become an arbitrary element that keeps piling up in your profile without any tangible value. This has translated into ₹100Cr earned in Rewards by our existing customers in the past 6 months. While we’re still trying to become India’s biggest reward program on bill payments, we promise only what we truly believe we can deliver. And strive endlessly to deliver that. I met Ram Shriram (https://lnkd.in/gBrEAGhD) last month in his office and what stuck immediately with me was his humility, clarity and exceptional sharpness. Anyone who has been part of the tech world for long enough knows that Ram is an absolute legend of the industry. He was the founding board member of Google and worked with Larry Page and Sergey Brin. He also worked closely with Jeff Bezos during his stint in Amazon. My idea of meeting him, which was an absolute pleasure, was more about me lapping on the opportunity to meet him and tell him what I was building at CheQ and the possibility of him giving us some inputs which I could cherish and help us with Networking. During the last few minutes, he asked me if I would be open for an investment from his side (not committing but checking), given our round was already closed. While I acted stoic, I was jumping inside. I ofcourse said Yes! We then met a few days later again. This time around, I saw a completely different side of Ram. He was absolutely thorough with what we were building, our current metrics, future plan etc (all that is in the deck) but more importantly he had 5 hard questions which he needed answers to. I was amazed at the depth we could go in the conversation given he doesn't live in India for many years. I had one of my most favorite 60 minutes after that. He gave me his decision then, and I was elated to welcome him at CheQ. Yesterday I asked him if he would want to add anything on this post and this was his reply : "I am excited to partner with CheQ.
