Meet Dr Ira Almeida - An agent of change with 32+ years of community health experience, she has led the Directorate of Health Service for the Government of Goa and spearheaded Goa’s first COVID hospital during the pandemic. Thanks to champions like Dr. Ira, palliative care in Goa has made immense progress. She and her team have set up an integrated palliative care unit at the South Goa District Hospital and extended this care into a compassionate communities programme, strengthening the public health care system. Despite her own journey with breast cancer, she leads an energetic team, setting a shining example of dedication and resilience. #PalliativeCare #CiplaFoundation

A decade has passed since the global call to integrate #palliativecare into the health care system. Our journey began in 1997, when Dr. YK Hamied established one of India's first dedicated palliative care centers. It started with one dream, one center - since then, we've made incredible progress— Expanding services, building partnerships and together with all our partners launching the first toll free palliative care helpline. While we celebrate these milestones, there is still a lot more to be done. We remain dedicated to ensuring everyone, regardless of circumstance, has access to the compassionate care they deserve. Together, we continue to strive towards facilitating synergies between government health systems, non-profits, community based organisations and other corporate foundations to increase access for palliative care for all #WHPCDay24 #10YearsOn #PalliativeCare Pallium India | CanKids KidsCan | CanSupport | SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action) | BHT Karunashraya | BAI JERBAI WADIA HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN - BJWHC | TATA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL | Sukoon Nilaya Palliative Care | NIMHANS, Bangalore

On this World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD) 2024, we reflect on our palliative care journey. The theme of the WHPCD 2024, “10 years since the resolution, how are we doing?” prompts us to assess our progress and renew our commitment to strengthen palliative care as an integral dimension of healthcare in India. As we celebrate the strides we have made in improving the quality of palliative care and making it more accessible to patients through our partners, it is also an opportunity for us to reflect on the challenges and opportunities ahead. Stay tuned as we share stories and insights from our palliative care network. #WHPCDay24 #10YearsOn #PalliativeCare

We’re excited to share that the Joy of Caring - our annual “shopping for a cause” event has begun, starting with Indore. ‘Sustainable Choices for Sustained Impact’, our theme this year, gives #Ciplaites across our business locations the unique opportunity to invest in eco-friendly products and contribute to social enterprises while also empowering local artisans. Every purchase is a sustainable step towards making a difference. This event wouldn’t have been possible without our partner organisations in Indore - Thank you, CARD, BAIF Development Research Foundation and AAS INDIA! #CiplaFoundation #JoyOfCaring #CiplaForChange #SustainableChoices

Joy of Caring is back! This edition of our annual campaign centers around the theme 'Sustainable Choices for Sustained Impact’, highlighting our commitment to not only empowering communities by shopping locally and ethically but also making informed and conscious buying decisions that impact the environment. Throughout October, Cipla employees from across our locations will engage with inspiring NGOs dedicated to health, education, empowerment of women and persons with disabilities, and sustainability. The Joy of Caring campaign is not just about shopping for a cause but also a unique opportunity for our employees to learn about the incredible work of our NGOs and their impact stories. Together, we’re fostering a culture of caring that prioritizes both people and the planet. 💚🤝 #JoyOfCaring #SustainableChoices #CiplaForChange

With an estimated 1.6 million children* in India needing palliative care, having a specialized palliative care service is crucial for addressing their unique needs. Taking a step towards this, we have partnered with the Department of Pediatrics, Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital (LTMGH), Sion, Mumbai to support children with any serious illness. This is the fifth pediatric palliative care unit in the city supported by Cipla Foundation.    This multidisciplinary dedicated unit, led by the dynamic Dr. radha ghildiyal, and under the able leadership of Dean Dr. Mohan Joshi will provide comprehensive and compassionate care to children within both the IPD and OPD. This service will ensure that young patients and their families receive the emotional, physical, and psychological support they need during their challenging times by building their resilience.    Together, we're committed to making a meaningful difference in their lives.   *Source- https://lnkd.in/gfuVaYyK #Partnership #PediatricCare #PalliativeCare #CaringForLife

Cipla Foundation proudly supports AIIMS Jodhpur Capacity Building Workshop on Palliative Care organized along with Indian Council of Medical Research.     This 2-day workshop - the first of its kind held in Jodhpur - was hosted by the Department of Anesthesiology AIIMS Jodhpur and RNT Medical College, Udaipur and was attended by 100+ healthcare professionals from 20+ districts across Rajasthan. It provided essential training on comprehensive palliative care topics like pain management, use of opioids, breaking bad news and end of life care, and emergencies in palliative care. The workshop also included case studies and panel discussions on palliative care management, community participation in palliative care and medical social services etc.      By equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills in palliative care, we aim to bring compassionate care closer to communities and reduce suffering in patients with any serious illness.     #CiplaFoundation #PalliativeCare #CaringForLife

Today, I had the honour of speaking at the HelpAge India hosted International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) event at India International Centre, Delhi.   This day serves as an important reminder of how over 65% of our elders today face financial insecurity, a number that is expected to grow as India’s life expectancy rises to 71 years. This means by 2050, one in five Indians will be over 60 years of age! *This demographic shift presents both challenges and opportunities, underscoring the urgent need for a multisectoral approach to support our aging population.   The fact entails that we must work towards creating robust care systems for the elderly that are sustainable and equitable. From providing accessible and affordable healthcare services to investing in the infrastructure for formal long-term care, let us commit to honour the dignity of older persons and caregivers.   My sincere thanks to HelpAge India for recognizing Cipla Foundation’s efforts to make healthcare services accessible and inclusive and especially for the elderly. A heartfelt thanks to Ms. @Sharmila Tagore, Mr.@Kiran Karnik and Rohit Prasad for a truly impactful event. Together, let’s continue to champion dignity and respect for our elders.   #InternationalDayofOlderPersons #AgingWithDignity #CaringForLife #CorporateSocialResponsibility (* https://lnkd.in/da4hvYCm)
