5 GW of installed solar capacity worldwide, including 1 GW in Germany – we are celebrating two gigantic milestones! 😍🎉 With the commissioning of a solar farm in Germany and a battery storage system in the UK, we have cracked two gigawatt marks! The almost 520 plants we have constructed worldwide add up to a total installed capacity of over five gigawatts. In our home market of Germany, we are also one of the first companies to install photovoltaic systems ☀️ with a total output of more than one gigawatt. This corresponds to a total area of around 1,400 football pitches with today's technology, or roughly the output of the largest conventional large-scale power plants. Dr Thorsten Blanke, Managing Director of BELECTRIC, comments: “The outlook for the current and upcoming year also confirms BELECTRIC as a reliable and experienced partner: we are currently constructing solar farms with a total capacity of around one gigawatt and have a large project pipeline ahead of us. Solar farms foster bird diversity 🐦🥰 A new study has analysed the effects of solar farms on the development of bird populations. 32 ground-mounted systems and 32 neighbouring control areas were examined in Slovakia. The result? Bird species richness and diversity were higher on the solar farms than on the control areas. 📈 The ground under the modules often remains free of snow in the winter months, making it easier for birds to find food. The substructure of the solar farms also provides nesting sites. But even apart from this, measures to promote local #biodiversity are implemented on PV systems – as is the case at BELECTRIC. On our solar plant Deubach, for example, we used a special seed for the skylark. But our #solarfarm in Templin is even more impressive: Thanks to 3,000 bird nesting boxes and specially adapted mowing concepts, the endangered hoopoe, for example, is one of the most frequent visitors to the plant. 😍 #belectric #teambelectric #vögel #birds #solarenergy #energiewende #renewables
