Growing Food, Growing Futures! A demonstration farm in the heart of Mukuru! this farm is more than just a garden it's a learning space where children and the community can discover how to grow their own food using limited space and available materials. Under our Zero Hunger Social Movement and the Right to Food initiative, this project is a step toward food security and self-sufficiency in urban poor areas. But we can’t stop here! We invite partners, innovators, and advocates to join us in expanding this knowledge and scaling urban farming solutions that empower communities. Let’s work together to make food sovereignty a reality for all! Who’s in? Let’s grow change together! #ZeroHunger #RightToFood #UrbanFarming #CommunityEmpowerment #Mukuru #SustainableFood SDI. Seeds grow in soils, but change grows in solidarity. – Million Belay, keynote speaker at the 2nd Eastern Africa Agroecology Conference in Nairobi. To truly advance and mainstream agroecology, we must start at the grassroots—with farmers, pastoralists, women, and youth. But grassroots efforts alone aren’t enough. As Nancy Rapando, WWF's Africa Food Futures Lead, emphasized, policymakers at global, regional, and national levels must recognize the value of agroecology and integrate it into key policy frameworks. The African Union's CAADP Kampala Declaration is Africa's blueprint for advancing agriculture and food systems transformation emphasises the need for resilient food systems, that holistically address food security and environmental management and social equity. At a side event—"Growing Resilient Futures in Africa: Advancing Nature-Positive Agri-Food Systems Transformations"—stakeholders shared crucial insights to shape policy debates on integrating agroecology into our food systems. The momentum is building, but collaboration at all levels is key.
