Eastern Africa Grain Council reposted this
We know its 🎄 but you got to read this post before meeting 🎅. Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of joining the Eastern African Grain Council and AGRA in their Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) Forum and Business-to-Business (B2B) forum in Nairobi. The PPD and B2B forum brought participants from Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania Uganda and Zambia. And had a huge emphasis on removing barriers to food trade as an avenue of improving food security. We presented insights on our collaboration with Denmark in Kenya’ Strategic Sector Collaboration Programme on Food and Agriculture, led by Pil Holm Maagaard And our shared belief that public-private sector collaboration is not only critical in achieving #SDG2, but also in improving food safety, whilst allowing the private sector to innovate, create jobs and create economic value in food systems. This collaboration also creates trust and allows private sector organizations like EAGC to play an even bigger role in equipping companies with the tools to meet regulatory requirements through in Industry Self-Regulation (ISR) model by encouraging more and effective Industry Own Checks (IOCs). Since last year, we have been working with EAGC to drive better linkage with grain-trade players. In 2023, we had an outreach imprint on over 2,000 farmers and a training footprint of over 48 employees in small and medium grain processors. In 2025, we will continue “tightening the chain,” encouraging more and deeper collaboration with players in the grains value chain.

Here’s what’s coming: 🌾 Year-round financing to keep your business thriving every season. 💡 Smarter cash flow management so you can focus on growing, not worrying. 🚚 Smoother operations from harvest to delivery. As Gerald Makau Masila, CEO of EAGC, put it: “This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to strengthen the grain sector and create value for farmers, traders, and businesses across the value chain.” And Emmanuel Murai, Avenews Country Manager, shared: “Together, we’re tackling critical challenges in the grain trade and creating solutions that support Agri-SMEs to thrive and grow.” Read the full story here, https://lnkd.in/dh6DWuPK, and discover how, together, we’re bringing growth and excitement to every corner of the value chain! #Avenews #EAGC #GrainSupplyChain #FinancingForImpact

Eastern & Southern Africa Private Public Policy Dialogue Advances Regional Trade and Food Security Agenda in Nairobi Eastern Africa Grain Council and AGRA have today convened stakeholders from across the region for the Eastern & Southern Africa Private Public Policy Dialogue (PPD) to address critical policy and trade challenges and advance efforts toward sustainable agricultural trade and food security. Building on the foundation laid in the previous PPD held in July in Dar es Salaam, this follow-up dialogue deepened discussions and broadened participation to include a wider network of policymakers, private sector players, development partners, and farmer representatives. The focus of this dialogue was to evaluate progress made since the initial forum while formulating strategies to address persistent challenges and unlock the potential of regional trade for economic growth and sustainable development. A key theme of the dialogue was the harmonization of trade policies to eliminate bottlenecks that hinder the seamless flow of goods across borders. Delegates emphasized the need for a unified approach to policy alignment, aiming to create a conducive environment for investment and enhance the competitiveness of the region’s agricultural products. Addressing non-tariff barriers also took center stage, with stakeholders deliberating on practical solutions to reduce high transportation costs, regulatory inconsistencies, and logistical inefficiencies that have long plagued cross-border trade.
