It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of our colleague and friend, Mark Mwangi Ndonga, who tragically lost his life on 7th September 2024. Mark succumbed to injuries sustained on Friday night after being struck by a motorist along the Thika Highway turn-off near Mountain Mall. We will miss him more than words can express. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Mark. You were, and always will be, the best of us.

On 2nd September 2024, the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), in partnership with the European Delegation in Kenya (EUD), and the European Commission’s Technical Assistance Facility Team (TAF), hosted a workshop on Assessing Earth Observation (EO) needs and gaps in Kenya and made recommendations to enhance private sector uptake of EO at Pride Inn Azure, Nairobi. The objective of the workshop was to assess the EO needs and gaps at the institutional level in Kenya. Discussions centered on both the demand and supply of EO capabilities, as well as identifying challenges and gaps in the sector. The workshop was intended to better understand the barriers in EO to private sector involvement, foster engagement and uptake to drive technological advancement and economic growth. The meeting was attended by representatives from EUD led by Stephan Fox, and representatives from KSA led by Charles Mwangi, along with other stakeholders from government and private organizations in Kenya. The workshop was moderated by Peter Zeil and David Kirugara on behalf of Novaspace. #EarthObservation #EO #Stakeholderengagement #Spacesector
