Climate action can't wait! It is time for stakeholders to take immediate actions, otherwise, we will get to the point of no return. Let's take it up from the illustrator's optimism, "But don't be sad, not all is lost". Thank you Carolina Sobén López for bringing the report closer to people!
ENG: Some days ago, WWF and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) published their Living Planet 2024 report. In it, they warn of the alarming loss of biodiversity over the last 50 years, as well as the approach to dangerous turning points. They are also honest: we are not achieving the objectives due to a lack of action. They assure that change will come from a transformation in the food, energy and financial system. But is there political will to achieve this? Here is an infographic that I have prepared from the report, with a summary of the data obtained on the reduction of natural populations and its main causes. But don't be sad, not all is lost!

[World Food Day 2024] The one non-negotiable fuel we humans run on is food. As a people, #food means more to us than a simple satiation of hunger. Food also expresses our cultural diversities. Every year, the #WorldFoodDay is celebrated internationally on the 16th of October by relevant stakeholders in the food sector, to mark the day the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization was founded in the year 1945. With food being tagged as the third basic human right globally, studies have revealed that 10% of the world population are experiencing severe #hunger. Food security has become a global concern, especially for underdeveloped and developing countries. The theme for the 2024 World Food day celebration, ‘Right to foods for a better life and a better future’, is an outcry for an intentional investment into sustainable, safe and accessible foods for #everyone everywhere. This is a call for countries, organizations, sectors and policies to join forces in strengthening their local value chains, leveraging the uniqueness in their diversities. With uncontrollable factors such as #climate change, innovative strategies can be developed to enhance #foodsecurity through climate-smart food systems. He who eats well can travel far. For a better life and a better future, everyone deserves a right to good food! #worldfoodday2024 #foodsecurity #food #onehealth FAO World Food Programme World Food Forum World Organisation for Animal Health The Global FoodBanking Network One Health Trust ONE HEALTH COMMISSION

[Global Handwashing Day 2024] Studies have proven #handwashing to be the easiest means of protection against diseases. Simply washing our hands with soap and water significantly reduces loads of pathogens on our hands. These pathogens are microbes that are present in our surroundings and can be easily picked up through contact with surfaces or even people. The relevance of this #globally recognized activity is being highlighted through a yearly event that creates awareness on the importance of maintaining health through clean hands. This year, we celebrate this vital event with a theme ‘why are clean hands still important?’, in a bid to re-emphasize the role of clean hands in global health. With the massive blows suffered from disease outbreaks such as Ebola and Covid, we have come to appreciate the protection provided by keeping our hands clean. As a point of focus, certain categories of persons are especially advised to regularly wash their #hands. Persons involved in medical activities such as nurses and doctors, school children, persons involved in food businesses, and persons working with animals are all encouraged to make hand washing a priority. Generally speaking, hand hygiene is for everyone as long as we remain part of a social cycle. Even as we celebrate this event initiated by the Global Handwashing Partnership (GHP) in 2008, we should be inspired to protect #community health by washing our hands regularly and educate others to do same. We are only as healthy as the next person. #handwashing #globalhandwashingday #onehealth #people #hands One Health Trust World Health Organization UNICEF Sanitation and Water for All - a UNICEF-hosted global partnership One Health and Development Initiative
