Today, we had the pleasure of screening ‘Rotterdam Fietst’ at the World Urban Forum 12 Egypt, the premier global conference on sustainable urbanisation. The event, moderated by Skadi Tirpak (Dutch Cycling Embassy), opened with inspiring remarks from Eva Witteman, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Egypt, an introduction from José Besselink (Gemeente Rotterdam) and continued with valuable insights from Maud de Vries (BYCS), Winnie Sambu (World Bicycle Relief), Ana María Navia Peláez (World Resources Institute). It’s been a busy day for the PATH coalition at the World Urban Forum 12 Egypt 🇪🇬 🌍 Many of our partners hosted side events. Here are a few highlights: During the PATH session titled "Walking and cycling - A Path to unlock the potential of active mobility to meet climate goals and make our cities more liveable," we discussed how effective walking 🚶♀️ and cycling 🚴♂️ policies can mitigate climate change and promote healthier communities 🌱. Institute for Transportation and Development Policy organised a training event on "Access-Accelerating Access to Low Carbon Urban Mobility Solutions through Digitalization," exploring how digital technologies 💻 can transform transportation systems 🚏. Meanwhile, the Dutch Cycling Embassy hosted a session in the Urban Cinema 🎬 on “Building a (happy, healthy, and safe) Cycle-Friendly Future for Children” posing the thought-provoking question: What if every child could cycle safely and joyfully in cities designed for them? 🏙️🚲 BYCS contributed a session on “Advancing caring cities Active mobility for healthy, safer, and inclusive child friendly futures.,” providing insights into the transformative power of child-friendly urban planning 🏡 and the benefits of cycling 🚲. It was a great start to the week in Cairo, exchanging thoughts on creating safer, healthier, and more sustainable cities for children. We're excited to see what's in store for the next two years!

Every two years, before #WUF, Cities4Children members come together to reflect and set new priorities.
