ITFA Chair commenting on #MLETR and our DNI Initiative following BCR Publishing Madrid event featuring early pioneer Jon Boran of Lloyds Corporate & Institutional .
Head of Legal EMEA at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Chairman, International Trade & Forfaiting Association
Just back from two enjoyable days in Madrid at the BCR Publishing 11th Annual Supply Chain Finance Summit. My panel reflected on whether or not we were in a good place in trade document digitalisation legal reform, its pace and efficiency, an “are we there yet” sort of discussion with added consideration of “is it worth it”? The answer is that it is most certainly worth it as numerous studies have shown but we are far from there yet with #MLETR adoption gaining traction but not yet universal coverage. That means that the pioneers, banks, legislators and users, have a crucial role to play. I was therefore delighted to be joined by Jon Boran, resident digital superhero at Lloyds Bank and Christian Hausherr of Deutsche Bank and head of #GSCFF all ably moderated by Robert Parson. We at ITFA continue to play a pivotal role in developing digital negotiable instruments through our #DNI initiative.
