The ASEAN DEI Collective is now soft-launched! ASEAN-BAC Malaysia, together with knowledge partner, LeadWomen, organised our first DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Roundtable, in conjunction with the soft-launch of the ASEAN DEI Collective here in Kuala Lumpur on 16 October. Chaired by Jukhee Hong, Chair of the ASEAN DEI Collective and Executive Director of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia, the roundtable was attended by some 40 leaders and seasoned HR practitioners from across ASEAN, including joint business council representatives from the UK, US, EU and regional ASEAN-BAC chapters from Brunei, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines. ASEAN-BAC Malaysia congratulates all early pioneer members of the Collective for taking the first step towards ensuring the adoption of DEI practices within their organisations. As Malaysia gears up for its Chairmanship of ASEAN, ASEAN-BAC Malaysia is actively engaging the public sector to shape its agenda for 2025. Co-chaired by Chairman Tan Sri Nazir Razak and Deputy Minister of Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Yang Berhormat Tuan Chin Tong Liew, a closed-door meeting titled “ASEAN 2025: Preparing Malaysia For Chairmanship” was held yesterday with Deputy Secretary General for the ASEAN Economic Community H.E. Satvinder Singh as special guest to further crystalise our efforts. This meeting was held in conjunction with “Vision 2045, Age of ASEAN” a half-day forum supported by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to gather insights towards deepening integration for the bloc in the two decades to come. Other participants of the meeting were Council member Mr Lim Chern Yuan (Group CEO of Yinson Holdings), Executive Director Jukhee Hong, Dr. Sugumari Shanmugam Senior Director of ASEAN Economic Integration Division (Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and Dr. Christina Yeo Ken Yin Undersecretary, International Relations Division (Culture) of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia (MOTAC). The closed-door meeting discussed various proposed business-led policy initiatives and projects to be pursued in 2025 to ease cross border investment, talent, capital and trade as well as sustainability related efforts. These initiatives aim to promote sustainable economic growth, facilitate trade, and create new investment opportunities in ASEAN while enhancing Malaysia’s influence in the region. The meeting was well attended by the corporate sector and business community including senior members of the ASEAN-BAC Malaysia Circle (ABMC) members from AirAsia, AmBank Group, Axiata, CIMB, Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”), GDEX Berhad, Genting Berhad, Ikhlas Capital, MY E.G. Services Berhad (MYEG), National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), PETRONAS, Silverlake Axis and Yinson Holdings.
