Inclusive hiring practices are more prevalent now than ever, but how many companies actually employ individuals with mental health conditions? Beyond Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, over half of survey respondents either avoid or are unsure about hiring individuals with mental health conditions. In Singapore, while 89% of organisations claim to have inclusive hiring policies, nearly half remain hesitant to employ individuals facing mental health challenges. What’s causing this gap? 🌼 If a flower isn’t thriving, you don’t just fix the flower, you fix the environment too 🌼 This powerful analogy was shared by Felix Loh, CEO of Gardens by the Bay, during WorkWell Leaders’ 10th CEO Dialogue. It captures the critical role that leaders play in shaping a healthy workplace environment. As part of this dialogue, Oliver S., our VP, Clinical, conducted a walkthrough of Mental Health First Aid™ Leadership Session. Some key takeaways that resonated with the participants 👇 💡Culture change starts with leaders through vision and policies (top-down approach) 💡Equipping managers with mental health skills fosters safer and more caring workplaces (bottom-up approach) 💡 Open mental health discussions at the leadership level create safer spaces for employees to seek help. “What are 5 things you need in your wellbeing programme?” That’s what Alicia Yoon, our Client Solutions and Consulting Lead and Vanessa S., Mercer's Wellbeing Leader shared at NexGen HR Leaders 2024. Here’s a sneak peek into what they discussed 👇 🪴 Wellbeing programmes need to proactively support the diverse needs of individuals, which will increase the programme’s success and engagement. But how do we do that? 💡 By supporting all aspects of an employee’s lives - from physical wellbeing programmes, mental wellbeing support, to access to financial advice and assistance. A huge thank you to Mercer for having us as part of NexGen HR Leaders 2024, we’re grateful for this opportunity to share more about what makes a wellbeing programme effective and impactful. Here’s to more conversations on employee wellbeing! 🙌

Improving mental wellbeing is a shared responsibility – from individuals to organisations to the government 🧑🤝🧑 We're proud to partner with the Singapore government to make mental health support more accessible. In collaboration with MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation (MOHT)'s mindline.sg, we’ve launched a podcast to talk about anything and everything that’s on our youths’ mind. Watch here: https://lnkd.in/g8YR6gt3 We're also working on an exciting mental health-themed game which will be available soon! 🎮 That’s not all. 🌟 COMIT Programme with AIC 🌟 Through our partnership with Agency for Integrated Care (Singapore) (AIC), Singaporeans can access fully subsidised counselling services at Intellect’s Clinic locations - ensuring that cost is not a barrier to mental healthcare. 🌟 Mental Health First Aid™ (MHFA™) Certification for Grassroots Leaders 🌟 Members of People’s Association Queenstown attended MHFA™, where they were empowered to recognise and support those experiencing mental health distress and direct them to appropriate resources. With this, we hope it’ll create a ripple effect of mental health awareness and care in our community. We’re committed to working hand-in-hand with the government to make mental health support more accessible and inclusive. Together, we’re building a brighter, healthier future for all. 🌱

In light of World Mental Health Day last week, we had so many incredible opportunities to shine a light on the importance of workplace wellbeing. 🤔 Do you know while 9 in 10 companies communicate their workplace wellbeing initiatives, only 5% of employees use them? 🤔 Theodoric Chew, our CEO & Co-Founder, broke down the reasons in a live interview on 📺 CNA - Singapore Tonight 📺 Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/g6sY9_Cn 💡 So how do we bridge this gap? 💡 It starts with leaders walking the talk. Leaders need to be active advocates of workplace wellbeing. As Oliver S., our VP, Clinical, highlighted in an interview with 🎧 MONEY FM 89.3 - The Afternoon Update 🎧, “If leaders are vulnerable and speak about their mental health journeys, employees will hopefully feel more encouraged to safely use mental health services." Listen to his full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gQRTR-xa World Mental Health Day may be over, but our commitment to workplace wellbeing continues. Let’s keep these important conversations going!
