𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝘁 Drawing and painting have long been admired as enviable talents that few possess, yet their impact is universal. At Synergy, as well as several who sketch and draw we are fortunate to have another remarkable artist: Captain Prafull Hudekar. Since 2007 Captain Hudekar has been mastering the art of watercolours, painting from photographs and often from memory. His work captures not only the maritime spirit but also the landscapes and cityscapes that speak to life ashore. Having recently joined Synergy, and now commanding the bulk carrier “LUMINA”, Captain Hudekar’s pairing of real-world images with his stunning watercolours offers a glimpse of the creative process of a seafarer-artist. His ability to transform everyday scenes into masterpieces is a true testament to his dedication, not only to his profession but also to his passion for art. This harmonious blend of skills at sea and on canvas boosts creativity, helps with good mental health and adds further great accomplishment to Synergy’s diverse talents. The accompanying images beautifully showcase Captain Hudekar’s ability to bring ships and seascapes to life, reminding us that creativity is as boundless as the seas that we sail. We are proud to celebrate his incredible talent and his contributions both as a Master and an artist. #WeAreSynergy #OurPeopleMakeTheDifference

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 This was the engaging theme of the Global Maritime Forum Annual Summit 2024 which took place in Tokyo from 15-17 October, with leading stakeholders discussing many of the core aspects of shipping's continuing transformation. One such is gender equality, and for well over a year Synergy Marine Group has been part of the Global Maritime Forum Diversity@Sea pilot project. This involves detailed consultation and empirical research so that seagoing life can become more inclusive and attractive, and the problems experienced by women seafarers can be addressed. Under the command of Capt Radhika Menon, and one of 12 such vessels, Synergy's managed Aframax “SOUTHERN REVERENCE” sailed last October as part of real-life appraisal of many aspects of seafaring, and on 9 September the initiative published its latest report. Headed “Improving seafarer well-being”, this is based on over 50,000 data points distilled from continuous engagement with more than 400 seafarers. As part of the Tokyo Summit, in discussion on 16 October Global Maritime Forum Director of Human Sustainability Susanne Justesen (ph.d) and Synergy’s Captain Menon shared insights into the aims and scope of the project, and Captain Menon was able to outline how vital material is captured and learning is obtained. In an industry where, still, only 1% of seafarers are women, the "astonishing" ratio on the “SOUTHERN REVERENCE” is 7/23. Describing Synergy as a leader on diversity, Captain Menon highlighted a thinking, structured and in all ways considerate life on board, where the crew bonds very well and comes together in making women feel safe. Many gatherings, and a sense of family, ensures that communication is easy and natural - just as for tackling loneliness, in daily feedback Synergy scores very highly on this - and everyone knows what is the right thing to do. Shore-based mentoring is established before boarding and remains in place, and (like all crew members) women can raise anything at any time, in an environment of personal security and professional integrity. 🌐 Join us in exploring the strides being made for a more inclusive maritime industry – watch the full discussion here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gNWz944C #WeAreSynergy #GenderDiversity #GenderEquality #DiversityAtSea #SeafarerWellBeing

𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗣𝗘𝗖 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝟰.𝟬 Led by Programme Chair Dr. Khaled Abdul Monem Al Kindi, Senior Vice President of the Upper Zakum oilfield, the 2024 ADNOC Offshore Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC Exhibition and Conference) was a gathering of energy engineers, experts and other stakeholders, and from 4-7 November this major event hosted a great many presentations and much detailed discussion on all aspects of energy sourcing, sustainability and modernisation. Representing Synergy Marine Group, Uttam Kumar, Director of IT Business Partnering, co-authored and presented a technical essay titled "𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝟰.𝟬 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀", in a session co-chaired by Saud A. (ADNOC Logistics & Services) and Kris Vedat (P&O Maritime Logistics). Uttam’s presentation drew a keen audience interested in exploring how Industry 4.0—through digitalisation, automation, and streamlining—can transform global logistics. Given shipping’s critical role in global trade, Uttam’s essay examined how Industry 4.0 technologies can propel the maritime sector toward near-total sustainability while balancing economic growth. He evaluated various high-impact technologies, including AI, blockchain, IoT, autonomous devices, satellite connectivity, alternative fuels, and big data analytics, detailing how each affects environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Key findings underscored the pivotal roles of IoT and AI as high-impact, low-risk technologies that enhance emissions reduction and operational efficiency. By supporting compliance and fostering sustainable growth, these technologies offer essential tools for a balanced approach to sustainability and economic viability in maritime logistics. As we move forward, one question remains: How deeply can AI engage with energy to reshape the future? #WeAreSynergy #Industry4 #ADIPEC2024 #Sustainability #Maritime #AI #IoT #EnergyInnovation #Decarbonisation

𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 At Synergy Marine Group, creating meaningful societal impact means empowering communities through direct, hands-on action. Our Synergy Bandhan initiative, launched in 2023, embodies this commitment. Through this program, Synergians volunteer their time and expertise in rural livelihood projects, uplifting local communities as a vital part of our Group’s Corporate and Social Responsibility outreach. Recently, a Synergy Bandhan team partnered with the Farm2Food Foundation in Assam, supporting a group of entrepreneurial women who produce eco-friendly domestic products from biodegradable materials. These women craft plates and utensils from areca nut tree leaf sheaths—a sustainable process that transforms natural resources into everyday items with minimal environmental impact. Over 10 days, our volunteers mentored these craftswomen on data management, quality control, inventory tracking, cost analysis, and business strategy. While they already had the production skills, we focused on equipping them with tools to scale their operations sustainably. There is always joy in giving back to society, but what truly moved our team was witnessing the transformation of these women into confident, self-reliant entrepreneurs. Inspired by their resilience and determination, our volunteers left with a renewed belief that small, focused actions can lead to lasting change. We are immensely proud of our team members who made this project possible, sharing their skills and passion to empower local communities. Thank you to everyone involved: Rajesh Vishwakarma, Deepali Ugale, Kashinath Pawar, Nutan Mhatre, Abhay Kumar Singh, Capt Madhav Kamath, Raakhee Sukumar, Vijayan, Varghese Joseph, Petchimuthu, Saihrishi B #WeAreSynergy #Sustainability #CommunityEmpowerment #CSR #SocialImpact #SustainableDevelopment #WomenEmpowerment

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗼𝗸𝘆𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝘂 - 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝟮𝟵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 The shipping sector finds itself at a pivotal moment as it navigates towards a sustainable future, and the upcoming COP29 could offer a breakthrough, providing an opportunity for the global maritime community to show ambition in aligning with the Paris Agreement and accelerating climate strategies. Last month in Tokyo, over 300 passionate leaders gathered, all dedicated to transformation of the maritime industry. We also had the privilege of witnessing the leadership of Jan Dieleman and Johannah Christensen, who brought together diverse voices and insights to tackle complex climate challenges. The Global Maritime Forum's efforts are a true example of cross-industry collaboration in the quest for sustainability. As we approach COP29 in Azerbaijan, it’s clear that this summit will face critical challenges. The focus on methane reduction, energy storage, and grid expansion is commendable, but there remains a noticeable gap in addressing the phaseout of fossil fuels—the cornerstone of effective climate action. The gathering in Baku presents a unique opportunity to craft policies that reflect the urgency of reducing reliance on these outdated forms of energy. Commenting on this, Captain Rajesh Unni said “COP29 President-designate Mukhtar Babayev has referred to the Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi on the need for ‘harmony and consent’ between humanity and nature—a sentiment that resonates deeply with my own strong beliefs, which are rooted in my upbringing in rural India. However, it’s essential that such aspirations move beyond rhetoric and translate into concrete actions that address the systemic shifts needed for a sustainable future.” Contributing roughly 3% of global emissions, the shipping sector has a significant role in this transition. Further aligning with the GMF’s vision, all of us at Synergy both ashore and at sea were particularly inspired by the IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, whose optimism and commitment remind us that compromise, collective action and determined leadership can pave the way for meaningful change. His focus on “Human Sustainability” underscores the importance of creating an industry where everyone feels welcomed, safe and proud to work—all key factors in attracting the next generation of talent. For our seafarers, working in a safety-first, inclusive environment is critical, as the maritime industry’s ability to decarbonise and embrace digital transformation very much depends on fostering an equitable and supportive culture. Heartfelt thanks to everyone at the GMF and to all our partners and stakeholders who are courageously navigating these currents of change. Let’s continue this journey together, working across industries, with competitors, and across borders, so we can drive lasting progress. #COP29 #SustainableShipping #ClimateAction #Decarbonisation #HumanSustainability #Collaboration #FutureOfShipping #EnergyTransition

𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗡 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗞𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘂𝗿, 𝟮𝟯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝟰 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 Now consisting of 219 like-minded entities dedicated to a vision of a maritime industry free of corruption that enables fair trade for the benefit of society and eliminates all forms of misconduct, the worldwide coalition of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) champions transparency, integrity, compliance, empowerment, and reporting in tackling corruption. Synergy Marine Group Executive-Chairman Captain Rajesh Unni is the Vice Chair of the MACN Board, and he and the Group’s COO QHSE Captain Ramadass Venkatarao and MACN officer Capt. A. S. have continued to be very active in promoting anti-corruption awareness and practices. Most recently, Captain Sami attended the MACN Fall Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, a gathering of a great many industry stakeholders for detailed and insightful analysis of core matters such as Port State Control practices, whistleblower protection and sanctions. Synergy’s Captain Kuldeep Yadav, a sailing master, was also part of the panel discussion on Port State Control, where he shared strategic insights on addressing corruption at the ship-shore interface. Following on from the Spring Meeting in Copenhagen, and ending with an open discussion led by a very senior panel, this major event distilled concrete actions that will mean further impactful change. These include the MACN Port Integrity Campaign in Malaysia, a further empowering initiative that will help all at the ship-shore interface to recognise, reject and report corruption and unethical practices. Synergy is very closely involved in industrywide anti-corruption efforts, many of which depend for success on individuals having the confidence to turn thoughts and words into actions. The answer to corrupt demands, requests or hints is always no. #WeAreSynergy #AntiCorruption #MaritimeIndustry #Compliance #Integrity #GlobalTrade #SupplyChain #ShipManagement #Ports

𝗗𝗜𝗬 𝗗𝗶𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗶 Well known as the Festival of Light, the word Diwali derives from Sanskrit that translates as a row of lighted lamps. These are the diyas that symbolise light overcoming darkness with a warm glow that represents enlightenment, knowledge and wisdom. All these notions were very much to the fore recently onboard one of our managed vessels, where Captain Rajeshkumar Singh and Chief Engineer Rongali Demudu organised the handcrafting of the vessel’s own illuminating diyas from the dark mud of the anchor wash, and added to the celebration with a welcoming decorative pattern made from coloured rice flour, an art form known as rangoli, or row of colours. The Synergy crew members thus safely and skillfully created some of the core elements of this important festival, with a reminder of home in saluting at sea an event that is widely celebrated on shore. #WeAreSynergy

𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 On World Heart Day (29 September), we reflected on the critical role that cardiovascular health plays in the wellbeing of our seafarers, who are the lifeblood of every vessel. Long hours in challenging environments can contribute to high blood pressure, an issue identified in the Journal of International Maritime Health as a serious onboard concern, and at Synergy Marine Group we’re committed to safeguarding the health of our crews. In 2023, we deployed advanced mobile ECG machines across several of our managed vessels, allowing for early identification of cardiac issues. By 2025 these machines will be fully integrated, with health applications for individual seafarers. With key crew trained to use this technology, we have already seen a reduction in medical emergencies and improvement in overall crew wellbeing. To further enhance health monitoring, with guidance from Italy’s C.I.R.M. (Centro Internazionale Radio Medico) Captain Tejinder Singh on the “LOWLANDS BLUE” has implemented a dedicated programme to track his crew’s blood pressure. With the crew members relaxed, proper positioning, and readings taken after their last coffee, this initiative provides an effective way to monitor cardiovascular health. Where necessary, and under professional guidance, adjustments to diet and lifestyle can be made to help lower blood pressure and improve both individual and entire crew wellness. #WeAreSynergy #WorldHeartDay #SeafarersWellbeing #EmployeeWellness #OccupationalHealth #MaritimeIndustry #WellbeingAtWork
