We believe International Women’s Month isn’t just March - it’s every day, all year. As we prepare for another year of fostering support, empowerment and connection within the built environment, we’re reflecting on how mentorship can shape a more inclusive industry. Last year we partnered with :scale to host our first Open Studio dedicated to elevating women at all stages of their architectural careers. By focusing on actionable outcomes, it sought to address the needs of recent graduates - the future movers of our industry. We received some amazing feedback, ''It was great to attend an event where we were all in similar positions. Applying and getting rejected from job applications can feel extremely isolating and personal, however, it was nice to know that there are other people in the same boat and makes it a little easier not to take it personally. It is an insightful event and a great opportunity for those from BAME backgrounds who may not necessarily have the connections to attend events similar to this or even be able to tour and see architecture firms!'' Collaboration is at the core of our practice - shoutout to Sana Tabassum for being an amazing individual to work with. 📸 Jane Lam/Lapching Photos

Last week, we marked World Book Day 📚 with the launch of our new practice monograph, Alison Brooks Architects: Architecture 2004–2024, at the Architectural Association (AA) Bookshop in London. It was a special moment to celebrate this milestone for our practice with collaborators, contributors and members of the UK’s oldest private school of architecture at 33 Bedford Square, a fitting setting to commemorate our inaugural monograph. Published by TC Cuadernos- revista de arquitectura, this dual English-Spanish edition (TC 163) captures two decades of our work. The monograph features: + An introduction by Ricardo Meri de la Maza: ‘On the Essence of Alison Brooks’ Architecture’ + A conversation between Jose María de Lapuerta Montoya and Alison Brooks + 16 built works completed in the past 20 years, extensively documented with descriptive texts, photographs, drawings ‘The work of Alison Brooks Architects fuses an endlessly inventive architectural imagination with profound sensitivity to the diverse cultural and natural histories that form each project’s provenance. This ethos underpins the extraordinary array of nuanced and joyful works illustrated in this book, collectively described by Brooks as experimental archetypes.’ Thank you to all who attended and purchased a copy of our monograph, and a special shoutout to the AA Bookshop for having us Andrew Whittaker and co. Gratitude also goes to the incredible photographers who helped bring our work to life: Paul Riddle Photographer (who contributes the stunning cover image of Cadence), Dennis Gilbert, Chris Gascoigne, Mark York, Tim Crocker, Cristobal Palma, Peter Cook, paul eccleston, Nick Hufton, Dav Stewart, Jon Cardwell, Edmund Sumner, Luke Hayes, Andrea Avezzu'. We’re incredibly proud of our pre-university student, Leul, for successfully completing his RIBA Work Placement, as part of the Diversity Emergency program offering state-school students their first work experience in Architecture. 👏 Leul confidently took on a design brief, and by the end of the week had maturely developed a proposal for a private residence while mastering advanced computational tools. Aligning with our office's developing Computational Design Group - it was inspiring to see his passion for residential design reaffirmed, under the guidance of senior members, Zoe Haysom and Hannah Puckey. A huge thank you to RIBA and Beyond The Box CIC for making this opportunity possible, and to the backstage heroes Ash Goyal and Sophie Draper for their support. ⚪ Head to our website to read more https://lnkd.in/eNFFdCQ8 #WorkplaceDiversity #WorkExperience #RIBAWorkExperience #ComputationalDesign #ArchitecturePlacement
