Creating extraordinary days, every day, for the children and adults we support. #WeMoreThanCare

About us

We enable children, young people and adults to make their own life choices, to develop confidence and independence to live, learn, thrive and engage. It’s about supporting them to live their lives to the fullest possible potential. We deliver high quality, person-centred care and support to adults, children and young people with a range of complex needs. Our approach means that people can be supported in their homes, community, residential or nursing care, and a wide variety of supported living arrangements. For children and young people, this ranges from high quality, local fostering agencies to highly specialised residential care. As a leading provider of social care since 1993, we own 550 residential homes and specialist services in the UK, and have a growing presence in the MENA region. Our assistive technology gives children and adults a voice, helping disabled people all over the world to be more independent. We have a strong track record in supporting public, private and third sector organisations to become more inclusive, by recommending actions to support disability inclusive organisations. The Basildon Olympics Nick Jackson, Locality Manager in Adults Central, shared the news two of the Basildon residential services had planned their own version of the ‘Olympics’! Last Friday, staff and residents from Ashview House and Glenroyd House met at a local Sports Village to compete in a number of events. Also in attendance, with guest appearances were Sophie Thomas (ex-Peripatetic Manager), Bradley Cooke (RFM) and one of the resident’s parents.  All had a lovely time, enjoying a picnic before the activities. We heard that the staff events were particularly amusing, Nick was a contender and even won a trophy… for ‘Cheat of the Tournament’ in the egg and spoon race! Nick Jackson thank you for sharing these with us and congratulations to all. #CareTech #ExtraordinaryDaysEveryDay

Staff and residents at Walker Road in Walsall recently embraced #CareHomeOpenWeek by working together to make a difference in their local community. One of Walker Road’s residents (Garry) used to participate in a litter pick organised by a local Rotary Club. Inspired by the positive impact this can have, staff and residents decided that this could be a wonderful way to make a difference in their local area and engage with their local community. The undertaking of a litter pick also tied in perfectly with Walker Road’s commitment towards CareTech’s CARE4, One Planet Living agenda. Staff ordered litter pickers and hoops (to hold the rubbish bags open) and everyone donned high-vis jackets before getting to work. Led by Garry, staff and residents went out on four occasions over the course of Care Home Open Week and managed to collect 7 bags of rubbish just from the streets local to their home. Speaking about the litter pick, Tina Welch (Manager at Walker Road) declared: “What a brilliant time! We had so much fun and really feel as though we have made a difference to the local area, in fact we’ve enjoyed it that much that we are going to keep doing litter picks as a regular activity”. Fantastic work... well done to everyone at Walker Road! #CareTech #CHOW #ChampioningSocialCare #CARE4 #OnePlanetLiving #ExtraordinaryDaysEveryDay

#CareHomeOpenWeek is upon us and Bushwood Service in Weoley Castle, Birmingham have been out fundraising in the sun and engaging with the local community. The staff completed a sponsored event where they were tasked with finding their way back to their service from a mystery location, collecting donations along the way. The mystery location turned out to be the car park of Walsall Football Club and staff members Richard, Hinda, Danielle, Morgan and Juliette ended up walking a total of 24’212 steps in 4½ hrs to get back to Bushwood just in time for their afternoon shift 😊 Bushwood has very strong ties to their local community and several local businesses supported the plucky staff team with Startright Training donating £100, the local ASDA donating drinks and snacks and the nearby Hairdressers very generously donating the contents of their ‘Tip Jar’. Along the way members of the public and local businesses also donated resulting in over £1000 being raised for a state-of-the-art Sensory Room. Manager Karen Neville was clearly overjoyed, stating “Well done to the staff team. This is the second year we’ve been fundraising during Care Home Open Week and I’m so proud of everything the staff and residents have achieved, they’re amazing!!"   #CareTech #CHOW #ExtraordinaryDaysEveryDay #ChampioningSocialCare

Thank you to LaingBuisson Events for hosting us at the Social Care Summit this week. Our Group Sustainability Director Jonathan Freeman spoke at the event to share best practice around operational sustainability. Our key takeaways from the session were: - Involve and empower your service users in sustainability initiatives - Companies must reward the right behaviours to drive change - Future external and internal stakeholders will expect ESG so the sector has to do more in this space. With collaboration between providers, not competition, we can make the most of the opportunities (not challenges!) that sustainability brings.
