We really enjoyed having you with us Aron Dencker! Good luck with the rest of your studies!
Developing vessel concepts with the power of hand sketching. I’m really excited to share some of my learning experiences from the past two weeks as an undergraduate intern at Chartwell Marine Ltd, a vessel design company. I’ve loved working in a creative environment and discussing within the team of engineers the balance between form and function. I worked on four different designs using Adobe Illustrator and Sketchbook Pro, including a catamaran ferry and an 8-metre rig boat. Responsible for my own direction, I independently led the research, sketching, ideation and hand-rendering on the development of these projects. It has been wonderful to expand my sketching and design skills, as well as learning how to collaborate on real projects with experienced colleagues. Some of my designs were then used to form CAD models for live briefs. I’d like to say a huge thanks to the team for making me so welcome, in particular Andy Page, Aaron Rogers, Robin Saunders, Cam Stewart, Christophe Rident, Thomas Payne, Megan Smith and the rest of the team. I’ve developed a much greater understanding of the whole vessel design process. I will also sorely miss the beautiful view from the office.

Excellent article in Professional Mariner this month. We are so proud to have designed this innovative solution for the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources and had a great experience building it with Derecktor Shipyards. https://lnkd.in/eh_tdzd5 Marcelle Melosira The people of Vermont have a well-earned reputation for environmental stewardship, so it’s only fitting that the state’s flagship university is operating one of the first hybrid research boats in the United States. The 64-by-19-foot Marcelle Melosira arrived in downtown Burlington, Vt., near the University of Vermont (UVM) campus last summer following delivery from Derecktor Shipyard of Mamaroneck, N.Y. Chartwell Marine of the United Kingdom designed the aluminum catamaran, which features a BAE Systems HybriGen package. With almost a year of operations under its belt, Marcelle Melosira has proven itself to be a highly capable, stable platform for research within Lake Champlain, and a worthy successor to the venerable Melosira.
