Following the fantastic peer reviewed results of the Life Cycle Assessment exercise, completed by Minviro, commissioned by Ionic Technologies and Ionic Rare Earths Limited and supported by Invest Northern Ireland. Our Director of Operations Thomas Kelly was able to present the results at Future Propulsion Conference's #FPC2025. Tara Ryan of Minviro presented in the same session; focused on Sustainability and Circular Economy. Both organisations were invited to present and participate in the panel session by Advanced Propulsion Centre UK, which was hosted by Daniel Fung, Head of Strategy at APC UK. The message at the session was clear; with British Geological Survey predicting that the UK will represent more than 12% of global #rareearth demand by 2030, and with the APC UK flagging that material costs will dominate Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor costs as the UK strives to meet its 2035 targets, the time for recycling capacity in the UK is now! https://lnkd.in/ecKgwVUm Tim Harrison Brett Lynch

I didn’t make it to Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) this year, but instead have spent the week in Canberra with different Embassies and industry groups discussing the sector. The message this week has been very clear, that strong, and resilient supply chains for strategic and critical minerals is a must - and whether it is from the rich resources of Australia, Latin America, or other mining jurisdictions, overcoming access to the development of deposits is high on the agenda, along with strategies to manage cost and enhance productivity. This year, the 47th Intercollegiate International Mining Games will be hosted in Cornwall, at the King Edward Mine Museum (20th - 22nd March). Mining school students from all over the world will be competing in Jackleg Drilling, Track Laying, Hand Mucking, Swede Saw, Gold Panning, Hand Drilling and Surveying. In addition to our sponsorship of the Camborne School of Mines students, we were pleased to also sponsor a local group - KEM International Mining Games Team. This gives a team from within our community the opportunity to compete, representing Cornwall at the games. We were also able to support them with training - Mark Kaczmarek, who has over 40 years of mining experience, spent his weekends getting them trained up on jackleg drilling, and Keith Russ, our Mine Surveyor at South Crofty, has been busy teaching them surveying techniques. We'd like to wish the KEM Team the very best of luck at the games next week - Chons da! Traceability is here at scale, and the International Energy Agency (IEA) and Business and Finance at the OECD provide an essential and insightful guide to markets around the world as to how best to use it. ”In pursuit of more responsible mineral supply chains, traceability is foremost a tool to help identify where companies should prioritize due diligence efforts,” says IEA. "By providing ways to integrate data on origin, evolution, and ownership of minerals as well as embedded ESG impact, traceability enables companies to begin mitigating risks and remedying adverse impacts, improving supply chains rather than marking the end of a compliance exercise." Critical Minerals on agenda at UNESCO backed webinar Met4Tech Principal Investigator Professor Frances Wall was among four global academics chosen to present on the prestigious World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS) Talks webinar programme on the theme ‘Science for Human Security: New Carbon Economy’. WAAS brings together a wide range of academic disciplines, to examine issues of central importance to global society and Professor Wall, Professor of Applied Mineralogy at Camborne School of Mines, spoke on the role of critical minerals at the talk on February 20.
