  • Did you know that 80% of Brits are spending up to five hours straight a day in meetings! A good work-life balance is something many of us want but it’s not necessarily easy to achieve.    Studies have shown that short ‘snackable’ bursts of activity, as little as 10 minutes throughout the day, can have a massive impact on both our health and productivity.   To help the nation work smarter not harder and maximise time for wellness around working, we’re trialling a solution: the ‘Swim Suit Collection’ – desk ready outfits which stay dry from desk to pool, and back again! Created with cutting edge fabrics, the groundbreaking hydrophobic clothing collection stays dry after a dip, allowing workers to head back to our premium workspaces to continue their working day in seconds, bone-dry and ready for the next video call.   We’ve seen a sharp increase in members basing themselves from our clubs for the day, using our workspaces and dipping in and out of the pool, gym, group classes, Spa Retreats or padel courts, making work life much more balanced. We believe pockets of wellness throughout the day make all the difference to our overall wellbeing.   The collection is truly one of a kind and we’re so pleased to bring this to life to ‘dive’ straight into the new year!   #WorkLifeBalance #WellnessAtWork #SnackableWellness #DavidLloydClubs

  • At David Lloyd Clubs, we're committed to helping our members achieve their wellness goals. We're thrilled to have received five Wellness Champion Awards in three years as the Most Active Fitness Clubs in Europe, UK and Germany, following #worldwellnessweekend. The most recent World Wellness Weekend from 20 to 22 September, saw 364,000 people participating in wellness activities at our 134 clubs across the UK sand Europe. As well as promoting wellness for our members, a selection of our clubs hosted an “Open Day” for non-members to help them discover wellness activities at our clubs, including signature group classes such as SPIRIT Sound Meditation, HIIT Classes and a selection of kids creative classes. We look forward to welcoming in the new year and continuing to help our members stay active, healthy and connected. #worldwellnessweekend #wellness #healthandfitness

  • As 2024 comes to a close, we’re looking ahead to the fitness and wellness trends set to take the nation by storm in 2025. Our team of experts at David Lloyd Clubs predict the following trends that will shape the year ahead. As spirituality and meditative practices rise in popularity, dance meditation is becoming mainstream. Searches for ecstatic dance increased by 49% last year, and TikTok’s recent “Interpretative Dance Trend” received 346.4 million posts. Due to this growing demand, we've launched SPIRIT Dance Meditation, where members use music and movement to clear their minds and stay present. Sleep hygiene will also take centre stage in 2025. With 22% of UK adults tracking their sleep according to a recent poll by YouGov, quality rest is increasingly recognised as essential for wellbeing, cognitive function, and physical recovery. We've partnered with Kathryn Pinkham, founder of the Insomnia Clinic, to offer the "Sleep Well and Live Better" course, which goes beyond common advice to provide members with strategies for improving their sleep. Additionally, we are rolling out sleep and wellness workshops for PTs, helping them support members in improving their rest. AI is set to transform personal training in 2025, with platforms creating personalised workout plans based on real-time data from wearables. These plans will adjust for factors such as performance, recovery, and emotional state. Currently, 62% of our members use wearable tech, with an additional 10% planning to start soon. Having already introduced the Body Hub across all our clubs, we are building on this momentum with the launch of a bespoke AI programme in 2025. This new programme will tailor workouts to each individual, based on the equipment available at each of our clubs. Post-workout recovery is now front of mind in the wellness space, with our high-quality facilities providing the optimal technology for this. Selected clubs have introduced hydro massage chairs to promote relaxation and relieve muscle tension, with an additional range of recovery treatments available, from percussion therapy to hot and cold therapies. Our Spa Retreats feature ice caves and plunge pools, where members can practise the popular Wim Hof Method to reduce muscle soreness and accelerate recovery. The social side of fitness will also continue to grow in 2025, with more people turning to fitness clubs to connect with their communities. Over half of 18-35-year-old Brits (54%) prefer the gym to nightclubs, while parents seek new ways to bond with their children in the digital age. To support this, we have launched REBELS, a family-friendly adaptation of our Signature group exercise classes, allowing parents and children aged 8-13 to work out together – a UK first. We are committed to providing our members with the support and resources they need to feel empowered at every stage of their fitness journey, while staying ahead of emerging trends to ensure we continue to meet their evolving needs.

  • We’re proud to be one of the founding partners of Change Please since 2020, having already raised over £2m for the social enterprise. It’s inspiring to see the generosity, dedication, and creativity of our members and teams shining through!   A massive THANK YOU to everyone who has participated, donated, and cheered us on. 💛   Every step, every bake, and every pound raised is going towards helping change young lives for the better. • One of our core values is “Do The Right Thing.” Operating in nine countries with 134 clubs and over 11,500 team members, we take our role as an employer seriously. We ensure that every team member feels seen, heard, and supported, regardless of their background. We see our people as a wonderful mix of talents and backgrounds and so we look to bring in team members from all walks of life at all levels. We believe that having a variety of experiences and perspectives sparks innovation and success. This means not only recruiting inclusively but also creating a culture where diversity is celebrated. Equity is about ensuring that everyone has a fair opportunity, regardless of personal characteristics, beliefs, or preferences. We implement measures to make our hiring and career advancement processes equitable for all. This includes dismantling barriers that may limit opportunities for some individuals and ensuring that career progression is based on skills and potential rather than background or personal traits. Inclusion means ensuring everyone feels welcome and valued. Our Inclusion Resource Groups (IRGs) play a vital role in this. These networks bring together team members based on shared characteristics or experiences such as nationality, disability, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender—and provide opportunities for team members to connect and advocate for inclusive practices. By promoting dialogue and understanding, these groups help us cultivate an environment where every unique perspective can thrive, ultimately driving innovation and collective success. Fostering belonging in the workplace requires open communication. That’s why we’ve invested in DLConnect, an employee communications app designed to facilitate interaction across the nine countries in which we operate. This multilingual platform provides company news, culture-building initiatives, and productivity tools to help teams connect and engage. We also listen to our team members. Through our local Club Do Good Forums and biannual engagement surveys, we ensure that everyone has a voice and can share their experiences. In our latest survey from October 2024, 84% of our team members said that they would recommend us as a great place to work. Saying thank you is fundamental to our culture. We recognise service anniversaries and implement a ‘Team Member of the Month’ scheme to celebrate individuals who deliver exceptional member experiences. At the end of the year, each club chooses the team member who has made the most significant impact and invites them on an all-expenses-paid trip overseas with fellow winners. This year, we were proud to be recognised as one of The Sunday Times’ Top 10 Very Big Best Places to Work in the UK for the second year running and to achieve Silver Accreditation by WiHTL for our commitment to Inclusion. We extend a huge thanks to our amazing teams for making David Lloyd Clubs so special. #DLCProud #diversity #inclusion #employees

  • On Sunday, our Luton club ran an event for visitors to learn CPR with the British Heart Foundation and meet footballer Tom Lockyer.   The event included family friendly educational activities such as worksheets for kids to help them memorise their address, as well as other steps they would need to take if they ever had to call emergency services. It was a fun filled day with bouncy castles and face painting for kids to enjoy, whilst educating families on the importance of life saving actions. The club ran several CPR sessions for people of all ages, including Tom who also got involved.   The event was a great example of how at David Lloyd Clubs we’re all about supporting local communities and raising awareness for important causes.   Well done team Luton!   #BritishHeartFoundation #DLCProud #Community #Awareness
