Great news for the next stages of the Central Winchester development with the approval of the Development Delivery Plan. East architecture, landscape urban design ltd looks forward to progressing the designs for new housing and public realm at the heart of the City with Henley Halebrown, Peter Barber Architects and in collaboration with the wider client and design team
We're pleased that Central Winchester Regeneration has taken another step forward, with Winchester City Council Cabinet approving the Development Delivery Plan - the first milestone since the Council signed a development agreement with Jigsaw by Partnership & Places, a consortium formed by Genr8 Kajima Regeneration, Thriving Investments and igloo Regeneration. The project is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a magical new place that unlocks this part of Winchester and brings new life to this timeless city. The vision is for a sustainable, pedestrian-led quarter with a mix of uses defined by attractive public spaces, reflecting the distinctive character of the city centre. The development will better connect the regeneration site – which includes Kings Walk, the demolished Friarsgate Medical Centre site and the bus station – to the wider city and district. It will bring homes for people of all life stages, which will support local people, their skills and talent in the city whilst attracting new innovators and entrepreneurs. Cllr Martin Tod, Leader and Cabinet Member for Asset Management, Winchester City Council, said: “Central Winchester Regeneration is a vital opportunity to bring new life to the heart of our city – new homes – new jobs – new businesses – and do so in a way that’s true to the city and true to today. It’s a top priority for the council, and the decisions we’ve taken are the last big step before we get to the planning application. “The plan we’ve agreed lays out all the details of the delivery plan, infrastructure plan, public realm plan and phasing plan needed for Jigsaw to move ahead. They’ve delivered to the demanding standards we set them.” Read more about Central Winchester Regeneration at https://lnkd.in/eghA7bK5
