About us

Elevate is a pioneering, free mentoring programme that has been designed
with a specific goal in mind – to inspire, inform and empower
people within the event industry.  Together we’re changing lives, careers, and the events industry for the better. Our mission is simple: Elevate provides opportunities for everyone across the events industry to further their career through free mentoring, personal development and training.  We believe that by building the skills and capabilities of the talent in our industry at every level and creating a strong community we elevate the industry as a whole.  In 2023 our focus will be social mobility to make a positive social impact on the lives of young people aged between 16-25. We will be seeking to nurture under represented talent and encouraging young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to consider a career in events. Our intent is to provide career pathways that offer equal access into the industry helping it become more diverse.    And this is just the beginning.

The Elevate podcast ‘Just One Thing’ asks the question what one thing, what one piece of advice, would you tell your younger self if you could go back in time. So, as part of our campaign to launch Elevate NewGen we asked our community the same question. Sarah-Jane Benham, CEO of Kru Live said: 'Act as if - turn up as that person you want to be. Model the behaviour and you will become that person.' Thanks for sharing, SJ. ---------------------- 👋 We’re Team Elevate Max Fellows, MELISSA NOAKES & Peter Kerwood 💪 Supported by our Ambassadors & our Advisory Board 👊 Providing mentoring & building community within the events industry 🙏 Changing lives, careers & the events industry for the better Do you want to see more from us? 🔔 Ring the bell on our profile to be notified of all our posts #️⃣ Follow #ElevateMentoring ➕ Connect with us #ChangingLives #Mentoring #EventprofsUK #EventProfs

Earlier this summer we asked members of our advisory board to recommend a book for young people just starting out in their careers and give their reasons why they should read this book. We then gave these books out at the workshops we hosted at the Creative Festival and Careers Fair in Margate when we launched our new initiative NewGen. Every recipient promised to pass the book and the letter on once read so these books are slowly making their way around friendship groups and making an impact as they go. Emma Gardner, Executive Design Director at Smyle recommends 'Dare to be you' by Matthew Syed. Why? 'Dare to be you' is the sequel to Matthew Syed's previous book 'You are awesome'. Emma says both books are brilliant. They encourage resilience and confidence. They also showcase why your inner voice is important, and how to empower your own destiny. Everyone is capable of greatness, but success is earned and not given. Emma says this book will guide you to unlock your individual power and to realise your true potential! #ChangingLives #Mentoring #EventprofsUK #EventProfs

So, as part of our campaign to launch Elevate NewGen we asked our community the same question. Jonathan Emmins, Founder and CEO of Amplify says: ‘Time is the most precious commodity, use it wisely. Think about who you spend it with and how you're spending it' Wise words indeed.

Andrew Dougan, allpoints Consultant recommends 'Man's Search For Meaning' by Viktor E. Frankl. Why? Andy says that it's an emotional, sometimes haunting but always inspiring book about finding meaning and fulfilment even when faced with the most challenging situations. He says that the lessons and insights in this book around resilience, gratitude, and how having a clear sense of purpose can trump and overcome the odds, are invaluable, and have been instrumental in how he approaches all aspects of his life. We can't wait to read it!

So, as part of our campaign to launch Elevate NewGen we asked our community the same question. Theo Gentilli, Founder of Warm Street says: ‘Be honest, and approach every conversation by sitting in the other person's shoes first. The power of empathy is underestimated. It builds trust and motivates.' We love this advice.

Richard Branson is an incredible entrepreneur and leader, authentic, with strong moral values and a real daredevil spirit. He shares some incredibly funny stories about his life in business and has never been afraid to give it a go and jump on an opportunity!

Our very own Peter Kerwood shared 'Four Thousand Weeks' by Oliver Burkeman. Why? Time is a precious commodity. We're only on this planet for 4,000 weeks (76 years) on average so stop trying to do everything, and do the stuff that REALLY counts. Pete says he wishes he'd read it in his teens as he would have wasted much less time. A great recommendation for anyone at any age.

So, as part of our campaign to launch Elevate NewGen we asked our community the same question. Tim Leighton, Executive Strategy Director for Jack Morton Worldwide says: ‘Always set out to really help people. It's not enough to offer your opinion, set out a brief or hand down a task. You need to work out how you can help the other person do their best work.' We love this as an approach in the workplace. 👏 ---------------------- 👋 We’re Team Elevate Max Fellows, MELISSA NOAKES & Peter Kerwood 💪 Supported by our Ambassadors & our Advisory Board 👊 Providing mentoring & building community within the events industry 🙏 Changing lives, careers & the events industry for the better Do you want to see more from us? 🔔 Ring the bell on our profile to be notified of all our posts #️⃣ Follow #ElevateMentoring ➕ Connect with us #ChangingLives #Mentoring #EventprofsUK #EventProfs
