It was great to volunteer as an Expert in Marketing and Communications at the Bristol Property Foundation Class 2024 organised by Karl Brown chair of the Bristol Property Inclusion Charter supported by Jessica Lanham-Cook from Bristol Works.  Held at UWE Bristol Business School, Frenchay Campus the pupils were tasked with a creative brief that aimed on transforming an empty space in the Galleries, a shopping centre in the city centre of Bristol to create a new use for the space that will benefit the local community. The project helped pupils work together collaboratively and learn multi skills within the industry such as Project Management, Planning, Marketing and Finance. It was great to provide an insight into the Property Industry and Built Environment to the pupils and assist in the judging process. 📣 Encon are pleased to announce the contract award for South Gloucestershire Council’s SGS Pegasus School Expansion. Construction will commence next week with works comprising of the enhancement of Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) provision at SGS Pegasus School, to provide additional pupil places of 40 students to meet the demand for SEND school spaces in the area. The works include an extension to the existing building which will include 5 new classrooms, staff resource areas, new welfare facilities; alongside enhancement to soft/hard landscaping areas, external learning spaces and car park area. Our team are excited by this opportunity to deliver a quality project in close collaboration with the client team and design team including AtkinsRéalis, Craddys, Studio LIME Ltd, BJP Consulting Group Ltd, Intrado Consulting Engineers and KJG Architecture, Inc. This project was procured through the Procure Partnerships Framework. Established to support public sector bodies to procure quality contractor partners, the Procure Partnerships Framework pushes the boundaries of how procurement can support public sector bodies to deliver their strategic targets. “We are delighted to have supported the procurement of South Gloucestershire Council’s SGS Pegasus School Expansion. The scheme will consist of 41 flats, communal facilities, a new community centre and a relocated MUGA, together with associated car parking, communal garden and access road. All the properties will be built to Welsh Government DQR standards for use as Council rented accommodation and will be designed to EPC A standards. 👷♂️ A great afternoon at Celtic Offsite’s timber frame factory, giving our young trainee’s an opportunity to learn more about MMC construction. It was great to learn more about the social enterprise that manufactures low carbon homes and supports the local economy to thrive. Thank you to Jodie Follett and Neil Robins for showing us around and educating us on the manufacturing of high quality, sustainable timber frame structures. As part of our Leaving a Legacy Programme for our Unit 4 Heads of the Valleys project, Encon continue to support local charities that are vital for the community of Rhymney, supporting health and wellbeing, alongside keeping people safe and healthy in the local community. It’s been great to meet with St Davids Community Centre and Cylch Meithrin Rhymni and find out more about the amazing work they have been carrying out within Rhymney Community. Encon have made donations to aid providing resources to the local community including an outdoor sand and water play area for local children. We are also supporting Rhymney Valley Foodbank with donations to provide more food and resources to those in need within the local community. Unit 4 Heads of the Valleys Industrial Estate project in Rhymney is being constructed in collaboration with our client Mileway and project manager JLL, alongside RPA Quantity Surveyors Ltd, Cambria Consulting Ltd and Lawray Architects.
