A E Yates Ltd. in partnership with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority successfully completed phase 2 of our emergency gantry removal works. We closed the Kingsway tunnel on Sunday 23rd March 2025 to remove another overhead gantry which was potentially unsafe & a risk to the travelling public. As well as the gantry removal, the tunnel closure was utilised by multiple asset management contractors, carrying out essential maintenance works on the network for Liverpool City Region. After months of collaborative planning including a huge comms operation, the tunnel was re-opened on time with all works completed safely. Fantastic effort from everyone involved!
