What have our Equality Panels been up to? Every quarter, each of our seven Panels share their recent key highlights and priorities for the next few months. Supporting us and our various partners to tackle inequality and discrimination across the city-region, our Equality Panels: 👉 offer vital insights from the diverse communities they represent 👉 inform political leaders and organisations about the challenges faced by people linked to their identity 👉 support the development of policies to improve outcomes for residents 👉 ...and so much more

On Friday 11th October, our co-chair Hannah represented the GMYCA at the Good Employment week event, where she spoke about what good Employment is like from a young person's perspective from our discussions in the October meeting. In her speech, she raised the importance of having a safe and inclusive space at work, flexible working hours, and a fair recruitment process.   "For me, this was such an eye-opening experience. As someone without a lot of experience in Employment, I'm honoured to have the opportunity to listen and understand other young people's experiences and challenges with job hunting and working. One priority we mentioned was fostering a safe and inclusive workplace, including ensuring that their recruitment process and policies are inclusive to everyone no matter their age or backgrounds, which is why it is so important to have events like this where different panels work together to create a better, friendlier work environment in Greater Manchester." The largest survey of young people in the UK, over 5,000 young people aged 11-30 took part in 2024.
