This supportive space, right in the creative heart of Norwich, is specifically designed to be a home for forming and existing digital businesses. The Hub will offer amazing collaboration and meeting spaces for use by the many digital supporters, tech enablers, mentors, and networks. Innovation Hothouse Competition - showcasing highly innovative SME's in the East of England The University of East Anglia Science Faculty and the Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR), in partnership with Anglia Innovation Partnership, are organising the 2024 ‘Innovation Hothouse Competition’, which will showcase the best of innovation in science and technology across the Norwich Research Park. It is also supported by Innovate UK Business Growth, #21towatch, Cambridge Wireless, and Richard Flavell. 📅 26th November, 13.30-18.30 📌 John Innes Conference Centre, Norwich Research Park As part of the competition, 8 finalists will have the opportunity to deliver a quick-fire 5-minute pitch to a panel of esteemed judges and showcase their innovative research ideas, products or services to fellow researchers, investors, grant funders and multinational companies from the region. LEADERS, REACHING FOR THE SKY. Today the Nelsonspirit crew of business leaders, charity leaders, and future leaders, met at Scottow Enterprise Park (Former RAF Coltishall), for a morning of inspiring leadership conversations and leadership development.   Avoiding the Hurricanes and those predicted by the BBC, we walked in sunshine, the entire length of the main runway 04/22 – and were probably the first people to do so since it was operational, and maybe the largest group ever to do this, passing the cold war blast-walls and the WW2 Spitfire pens.   Thanks to our guides Robert Cater and Stuart Turner of Hethel Innovation / SEP for their commentary on the history of the base, as well as inspiring us with the innovation and businesses operating there now, including solar power and clean energy.   We were also able to welcome home our special guest, business leader and former jaguar pilot Jon Witte (To be more formal: Flt. Lt. Delighted to say that the final round of the £7.5m Innovate UK Agri-Tech and Food Tech Launchpad we secured for Eastern England (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire & Lincolnshire) opens today with up to £2.5m funding split across two competitions for businesses (competition links in comments): ▶ £25,000 - £100,000 fully funded grants available to support SMEs with innovation projects. ▶ £150,000 - £300,000 grants to SMEs to develop a consortium bid which can include research institutes, universities, charities and the public sector. This funding is open to businesses across (apologies for the long list): ▶ agriculture ▶ horticulture ▶ agri-tech ▶ agri-biotech ▶ food tech ▶ food manufacturing ▶ seafood processing ▶ aquaculture / seaweed. In both competitions, businesses can seek funding for innovative projects developing and applying technologies in themes that include the following: ▶ enhancing the productivity of primary crops, livestock, aquaculture or ornamental crops ▶ biotechnologies related to agriculture, aquaculture, food processing and nutrition ▶ food that promotes safe, lower carbon or more sustainable healthy and nutritious diets ▶ resource efficient production and processing methods for low emission foods Competitions close at 11am on 6th November.
