This #WiMWednesday I want to open up the conversation around Women in Leadership and breaking Barriers in Manufacturing. In industries like manufacturing, where women have traditionally been underrepresented, breaking barriers and stepping into leadership roles is more important than ever. But what does it take to lead in this environment? 💪 It's about confidence. It's about resilience. And most importantly, it’s about supporting each other to pave the way for future leaders. Women in manufacturing are stepping up in remarkable ways – from leading innovative projects, driving sustainability initiatives, and embracing new technologies, to shaping the future of industry. Yet, the journey is never without its challenges. Women leaders often have to push through doubt, face imposter syndrome, and overcome biases. But despite this, the rewards are worth it and the impact is profound. 💡 Tips for Women Aspiring to Leadership Roles in Manufacturing: ~Own Your Voice: Share your ideas, and take credit for your work. Your voice matters and you deserve the seat at that table. ~Mentorship: Find a mentor who can guide you through challenges, or be a mentor to someone else. We rise by lifting others. ~Stay Resilient: Leadership isn’t always easy, but embracing challenges and bouncing back stronger is a key trait of a great leader. ~Build Your Network: Surround yourself with other strong women and allies who can support your growth and provide guidance. Let’s celebrate the women who are breaking barriers, leading teams, and transforming industries, like all the great women I get to work with on the WiM board and others in my network. Congratulations to Tom Adeyoola, who has been named as the government’s preferred candidate for the role of Executive Chair of Innovate UK. He brings a wealth of experience, spanning technology, investment, entrepreneurship and digital transformation. As co-founder of Extend Ventures, he has worked with Innovate UK to improve diversity in grant funding and support underrepresented entrepreneurs. He also serves on the steering board of The Startup Coalition, advocating for high-growth tech businesses across the UK. Whilst on the board at Channel 4, he focused on digital transformation and championed innovation funding in the creative industries. He has also been a driving force in exploring the impact of generative artificial intelligence (AI) on the economy, from education to public services. UKRI Chief Executive Professor Dame Ottoline Leyser said: “Tom Adeyoola’s appointment is excellent news for Innovate UK and the whole of UKRI. His experience and insight as a technology entrepreneur and business leader will bring enormous benefits and expertise to the organisation at this critical time.  “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Stella Peace for her superb leadership as interim Executive Chair. 🔬 Making all the right connections in UK manufacturing! £9 million in funding is powering a new NMIS semiconductor packaging R&D facility, helping reshore a critical part of the UK’s £500 million electrification supply chain.
