We're Hospitality Action. Whatever you do in hospitality, isn't it good to know somebody's got your back?

About us

Behind their smiles and slick service hospitality workers can fall upon hard times just like anybody else. Ours is a stressful industry, with long hours, high pressure environments and physically demanding work. Injuries, mental health problems and addiction are sadly a feature of modern life in the hospitality trade. That’s where Hospitality Action steps in. We work to provide hospitality workers with financial, physical and psychological support to help them overcome adversity and get back to work as quickly as possible. We help individuals and their families stay afloat with grants to cover anything from rent payments to school uniform for their children. And for those who sadly can’t return to the industry they love, we provide ongoing support to transition them to the next stage of their lives. For older people who have retired from the industry we provide grants to help with heating bills, home conversions or even funeral costs for loved ones. Just as importantly, we provide a lifeline to prevent loneliness and isolation and our ‘Golden Friends’ enjoy regular contact and local events to help them stay active and connected to their community. • Tatiana, a restaurant manager at one of the companies who subscribes to our EAP, applied for funding for a dishwasher. But when we spoke to her, we realised her needs were far greater. Tatiana loves to dance, but after contracting sepsis while on a dream holiday Tatiana had to undergo a life-changing quadruple amputation just to survive. She spent weeks in a coma and months in rehabilitation, determined to rebuild her life—and dance again. Her NHS prosthetics didn’t give her the mobility she longed for. Her employer helped launch a crowdfunding campaign for advanced prosthetics, but it fell £20,000 short. That’s where Hospitality Action stepped in, awarding our largest ever individual grant to secure her new prosthetics. Thanks to your generosity, Tatiana regained her mobility, her freedom—and her ability to dance.

  • We are thrilled to announced that this year's 25th-anniversary Northcote Hotel & Restaurant Obsession festival, a renowned celebration of culinary excellence, has raised an impressive £77,000 for Hospitality Action - bringing the total funds raised to an incredible £500,000! The 17-day event saw 22 top chefs with 27 Michelin stars between them prepare dishes for over 1,500 diners. The event included chefs from Paris, Cape Town, Singapore and Denmark, as well as Lisa Goodwin-Allen who has since left Northcote after 23 years working at the Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant. We are profoundly grateful to Northcote Managing Director Craig J Bancroft FIH MI, Lisa, and the entire Northcote team, as well as the visiting chefs, sponsors, suppliers and guests, for their incredible generosity. The funds raised will have a life-changing impact on those facing difficult times, and this level of support is nothing short of extraordinary. We caught up with HA Ambassador Craig to learn a little more about the amazing festivities. • Walk for Wellbeing is back for a sixth year and is even bigger than before! Powered by hospitality talent and recruitment partner mum in partnership with Caterer.com and Imperial London Hotels, this year’s event sees Cornwall, Edinburgh, Leeds, Newcastle and York join the grassroots movement bringing the total number of host cities to thirteen. Walk for Wellbeing is an accessible, meaningful industry movement that promotes the importance of wellbeing in hospitality and generates vital funds for Hospitality Action. For workplace teams, the event also provides a chance to develop teamwork skills, build stronger workplace relationships and promote an inclusive, collaborative culture as part of a wellbeing and CSR strategy. Each 20km hosted walk will take place across key UK locations in October. York will host the first walk on Sunday 12 October, followed by walks in Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Cornwall, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, and Manchester on Sunday 19 October, culminating with Newcastle on Monday 20 October. For those unable to join a city hosted walk, ‘Walk It Your Way' – taking place anytime between World Mental Health Day on Friday 10 October and Sunday 26 October – provides the flexibility to participate anywhere, any time. After five incredible years dedicated to creating and growing Walk for Wellbeing into a national call to action, Craig Prentice, founder and director of hospitality talent and recruitment partner mum, has gifted the brand to Hospitality Action. Now recognised as a flagship activity for the charity, the event has taken huge strides in elevating the importance of wellbeing in hospitality whilst raising vital funds. Craig will remain closely involved as a strategic advisor, steer and spokesperson for the initiative, and mum will continue as lead partner and host of the London walk. Craig Prentice, creator of Walk for Wellbeing, said: “After five successful years, now is the perfect time for me to gift Walk for Wellbeing to Hospitality Action, whilst remaining involved to supporting in growing the reach and significance of the initiative. I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved, from humble beginnings in lockdown with groups of 10 walking in a handful of locations, to a national movement across the country. It has captured the hearts of thousands of hospitality people and clearly demonstrates their commitment to promoting the importance of physical and mental wellbeing for our people in the sector.” For more information and to register: https://lnkd.in/enhR6wC6 Let’s walk the walk and make a positive difference together. mum Caterer.com Imperial London Hotels Custard The Relationship #wevegotyou #walkforwellbeing #wellbeing

  • We are incredibly grateful to Ambassadeurs Group for nominating Hospitality Action as one of their 2025 Key Charities. Rising debt, increased living costs and unstable work have triggered a surge in mental health and financial struggles for thousands of hospitality workers. But thanks to the generosity of our industry, we've been able to support thousands of people: "I can't tell you the difference this will make to me and my son. I can top up the gas meter so we can put the heating on for longer than just a few minutes. Just that feels like a tiny miracle." #wevegotyou #makeapositivedifference #thankyou
