  • 🔬 Inspiration in Science: A Talk with Professor Graham Williams 🌟 Our second-year BTEC Applied Science students recently had the incredible opportunity to hear from Professor Graham Williams of the University of Hull. 🎓 Prof. Williams, who himself studied BTECs, shared his inspiring journey and highlighted the importance of aiming high—reminding students that with dedication, they could one day be in roles like Chief Scientific Officer! 💡 During the talk, Prof. Williams gave valuable advice on the transferable skills that both universities and employers look for, and how these can be developed through their studies. He also linked the skills directly to their Unit 6 Research Project, showing how research is essential to scientific careers and the wider job market. 🔍 This session was a powerful reminder of the endless opportunities that science can offer, and we hope it has motivated our students to continue pushing the boundaries of their potential. 🚀

  • Education & Early Years Fundraiser: Sponsored Walk for a Great Cause! Our incredible Education and Early Years students braved the elements last Friday in their mission to raise funds for their upcoming trip to Bali! 🌴 Despite the windy weather, these determined students got creative and completed their 10k (6 miles) walk at the Waterfront Gym, using treadmills, bikes, cross trainers, and even a circuit! 💪🚴♀️ All funds raised will go towards purchasing essential resources for the schools and nurseries they'll be working with in Bali, helping make a difference in the lives of children across the globe. A massive shoutout to these students for their dedication to the cause! 👏

  • Last week, we were honoured to welcome Sharon De-Leonardis to Kirklees College for an impactful workshop that explored the lasting impact of slavery, while celebrating the resilience and achievements of those who continue to strive for an equitable future. 🌟 On Wednesday 22 January, students accompanied the performance of Sharon’s play Rise of the Empress, which was fully booked! The play delves into themes of belonging, heritage, self-discovery, and resilience, encouraging the audience to challenge stereotypes and expand their understanding of the diverse narratives that shape Black British life. These events reflect our ongoing commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation, promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. Let’s continue to unite, celebrate hope, and work towards a brighter tomorrow, fighting racial inequalities and modern slavery together. 💪🏽✨ Read all about the event here 👉 https://shorturl.at/0xlhy
