Innovate UK Business Connect is supporting Pilkington Automotive in seeking new solutions to measure the shape of complex glass windshields (and other products) during manufacture in a furnace. Pilkington is seeking solutions to modernize the sag-bending technique for windshield manufacturing by incorporating smart manufacturing techniques. The company is seeking solutions for inspection technology to measure the concave surface of glass at multiple locations within the furnace. The aim is for the measurement data to be coupled with a digital twin to allow real-time optimisation of the furnace conditions to meet the stringent and complex requirements of current and future automotive glazing products. Clean Colour is seeking UK-based innovators that can provide a solution to the challenge of machining sequins onto substrate fabrics at speeds on par with current, fossil based, sequin solutions. 📣 Can you make a difference in driving down the environmental impact of the construction sector? Innovate UK Business Connect is supporting Catnic the UK marketing leader in lintel products, to identify innovative solutions to replace the fossil fuel-derived foam insulation in its products with a sustainable alternative. Catnic currently uses expanded polystyrene (EPS) in their lintels, and they are seeking a new, sustainable, insulating material that can replace this, moving away from an oil based expanded polystyrene to more sustainable materials. The solution should retain all existing in-use performance characteristics but offer reduced embodied carbon and full recyclability, eliminating the reliance on the use of virgin fossil fuel-derived chemicals and helping to drive down the environmental impact of the construction sector. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to pitch their solution to Catnic.
