We’re really proud of all our work and achievements this year, particularly the recognition we received at the Sheffield Design Awards for the transformation of Leah’s Yard, bringing a building at risk back to life as a much loved heart of the city. Derby Market Hall is now progressing at pace for completion early next year, and we look forward to working again with the National Trust in 2025. The office will be closed from Dec 24th until Jan 2nd. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Lathams. We said a fond farewell to Chris Twomey last week, after 21 years of service at Lathams. Many thanks to Chris for all he has done for us over the years. We wish him well on his retirement and doing more of what he loves: travelling the globe and spending time with the family. #farewell #thankyou #architect #retirement

Here's the team on a recent visit to our award-winning scheme at Leah's Yard in Sheffield. As an employee-owned company we hold regular in-person meet-ups to discuss practice matters and the event was made even more valuable by including a site visit. We're planning to visit more of our projects in the new year. For more information on our work and how we operate as an EOT, get in touch. #eot #employeeowned #awardwinning #architects #architecture #sitevisit #meettheteam Leahs Yard

Our concept design for a waterfront training centre. We like to work quickly and creatively through a series of sketch options during the early stages of a project, to test ideas with the client, allowing for rapid design iterations without the constraints of more inflexible digital models. #sketch #designprocess #architect #architecture #concept #workflow

With the redecoration works on Derby Market Hall nearing completion, here's a look at how some of the decorative details have been accentuated, transforming the historic hall into a bright and airy space. The new colour scheme is based upon the original colour palette for the building, using physical paint samples and some clever investigative techniques developed by Crick Smith. #restoration #heritage #interior #market #markethall #Derby #restorationproject #wip #nearlyfinished #architect #architecture #conservation #buildingconservation #historicbuilding Derby City Council, Wates Group

We're delighted to announce that Leahs Yard has won the Conservation Award at the Sheffield Design Awards 2024. Following our initial appointment to deliver the extensive stabilisation works, which saw the Grade II* Listed building removed from the Heritage at Risk Register, we then worked to fully restore and bring the building back to life, to the now thriving, collection of makers studios and shops. Congratulations to all winners and shortlisted projects — it's great to see such a high standard of design throughout the city.
