We’re proud to share that our Eastern region has successfully collected over 250 food items to support food banks across Yorkshire as part of #NationalFoodBankDay! Over the last month our developments across Yorkshire were given an empty box to be placed their site offices, employees and subcontractors were encouraged to fill the box with much needed items which would be donated to local food banks close to their sites. This crucial initiative provided much-needed aid to families struggling with hunger. Benefiting food banks include: ⭐️ Howden Shire Hall ⭐️ Savoy Community Centre ⭐️ EMS Centre in Hull ⭐️ The Trussell Trust Leeds South & East. As the cost of living continues to rise, food banks have become a lifeline for millions. We're proud to stand with our community for National Food Bank Day to help those in need. Lovell raises a cup to Homes for Life to mark Scottish Housing Day To celebrate #ScottishHousingDay, Head of Partnerships for Lovell Partnerships Ltd in Scotland Sarah Freel CIHCM & Ann Pickering from North Lanarkshire Council joined a long-term resident in Holytown for afternoon tea. This year, Scottish Housing Day highlights the role well-designed housing plays in helping older adults live independently. In Holytown, Lovell built 20 houses, which were designed in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council. Mrs Margaret Williamson, one of the first residents, said: "I've been here for 14 years since the house was built. It's all on one level, which is ideal at my age. It's spacious, filled with light, and right on the main street. I sit on my couch and see everyone go by, which makes me feel part of the neighbourhood. It's perfect." Each Lovell home, for social rent or private sale, is designed with energy efficiency as a priority and are built in locations with vibrant communities, access to local amenities and transport options, which support residents of all ages. We have proudly donated £1,133 to Upstream Cymru, an initiative led by homelessness charity Llamau. Upstream Cymru is a school-based, early intervention programme that is focused on identifying and reducing the number of young people at risk and preventing them from reaching a crisis point. Our donation will go specifically towards Upstream Cymru’s work in St Mellons, Cardiff, where we are delivering the St Mellons Community Living Project for Cardiff Council. Gemma Clissett, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “Llamau is a charity we’ve supported for many years at Lovell, so as soon as we heard about the Upstream Cymru initiative we wanted to get involved. “Upstream Cymru is an invaluable project that has already helped countless of young people in Wales, and we are so proud to have made this donation. At Lovell we care deeply about the communities we operate in and hope that our £1,133 contribution helps more students in St Mellons receive the support they need.” To read the full story, visit https://ow.ly/nkXI50ToawJ. Recently, the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Lieutenant-General Sir Andrew Gregory, KBE, CB, DL, visited our Drummond Park development, to learn about the innovative Veteran Build Experience scheme we are delivering with our partners Alabaré and Stonewater. Under the scheme, ex-military personnel are provided with workplace training and mentoring, and the opportunity to secure a new affordable home that they have helped to build. James Duffett, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “The Veteran Build Experience at Drummond Park is incredibly important to us, and we are very proud to have shown Sir Andrew Gregory our vision and passion for this scheme. “This project is not only helping ex-military personnel to develop new skill sets and explore new career opportunities, whilst living in homes they have proudly helped to build, but it is also helping us at Lovell to diversify our workforce and bring new talent into the construction industry. At Drummond Park we are building not just homes but a legacy, and we are committed to supporting each veteran who joins the scheme.” To read the full story, visit https://ow.ly/isEK50Tj6Sa. #lovell #lovellpartnerships #lovellhomes #newhomes

Great conversations were had at the Chartered Institute of Housing & National Housing Federation #HousingCommunitySummit 2024– whether delivering new homes or considering the challenges of refurbishment and retrofit. Our Refurbishment Director Carl Yale shared his thoughts on a panel discussion where he made three wishes to scale up Retrofit: 1. Simpler funding to create more pipeline and create green jobs– avoid the stop/start approach to funding; 2. Need for better stock data – every property has a ‘retrofit assessment’ - a nett zero plan; 3. A more consistent approach to PAS2035 – which was designed for deep retrofit Carl felt the various iterations of SHDF funding had moved the goal posts in terms of outcomes and principles – whilst initially the SHDF demonstrator had ambitious heat demand targets following ‘fabric first’ principles - in reality this ‘deep retrofit’ was perhaps too much too soon for the sector at a time when it was only starting on the retrofit journey. He noted that as we moved through wave 1 and wave 2, the funding criteria relaxed to ‘go wide’ as well as deep, with a ‘light touch’ approach focussing on measures such as electric storage heaters, loft, cavity, and solar PV to achieve ‘EPC C’ by 2030 – tackling evident fuel poverty at a larger scale. This meant that the cost and requirements of PAS compliance became arguably disproportionate to the funding available. Carl concluded by saying that whilst suggesting there could be some ‘middle ground’ to reduce the admin burden and to choose the right measures for the right properties as a lever to scale up delivery, with a more consistent approach to PAS making it easier for Landlords to make better funding applications which can only benefit their customers by installing the appropriate energy saving measures to their home. As you can tell, Carl is very passionate about retrofit! We’re proud of the work he is doing to develop and deliver cost effective solutions for our partners. Please do contact him or our Director for the North, Antony Newton, to discuss your refurbishment and retrofit strategy. Read more | https://ow.ly/4vBJ50Tl7vB #UKHousing #RetroFit Inside Housing

Castleward named one of the top regeneration projects in the East Midlands. We had the pleasure of celebrating our Castleward project and its listing as a finalist at one of the most influential regional events of the year; the East Midlands Property Dinner 2024. Shortlisted for Regeneration and Restoration Project of the Year, the development is being delivered in collaboration with Compendium Living and has just begun its fourth phase. This will see the delivery of 112 new homes as part of the £100 million redevelopment of the area. A fantastic evening that demonstrates the strength of the regeneration and housing provision in the region. Beth Bundonis Lewis Charity Wendy Lister #EMPD #EastMidlands #Regeneration

Our regional operations director in East Anglia, Trevor Haystead, recently turned his hand to being a referee for a Street Canaries initiative delivered by Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, which we sponsor. Street Canaries targets young people, aged 8-18, who have previously proven difficult to reach and helps guide them towards a range of sporting activities, using football as the main engagement tool. Every day our industry loses two people to suicide. That’s two people too many. Today is #SuicideAwarenessDay and we remember our colleagues that have lost their battle with mental health. In the UK, construction workers are nearly four times more likely to take their own lives than those in other sectors. Additionally, 83% of construction workers have struggled with mental health issues. We are here to support every Lovell colleague, our supply chain, and all their families needing help. #EndTheStigma - #YouAreNotAlone #MentalHealthMatters - #StopSuicide
