We have recently completed the Broadwalk Green PRU in Salford, which needed a new and improved facility that met their requirements 🌳 The project aimed to establish a new PRU on the site of an existing unused youth centre located on the outskirts of a residential area and a public park in Clifton. The new PRU features unique design considerations. It is a well-thought-out space that meets the additional needs of Key Stage 3 pupils who require an alternative to mainstream education, while still maintaining the look and overall functionality of a typical secondary school. We have carefully balanced the facility's requirements for robustness, security, and safety to ensure it serves as a suitable environment for special education. We recently celebrated the grand opening of the brand-new Bedford Greenacre Independent School, marking our largest project to date 🎉 This impressive school will serve as a 680-place all-through school, including 80 Sixth Form spots, welcoming students from both schools and an additional 120 pupils. Our vision for this remarkable school was to design buildings that foster an inspiring and forward-thinking learning environment, embodying the values of a distinctive independent school. The opening ceremony was a truly memorable day, filled with delightful moments as our managing director, Simon Reid, beamed with pride. We were also honored by the presence of a very special guest, His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, who joined to celebrate this significant milestone. Simon Reid, Managing Director at Lungfish Architects, shared his thoughts on the project, stating, "I am immensely proud of this project, our largest to date. Collaborating with the school, their Governors, and Pellikaan Construction Ltd. has been a privilege. The new building's design focuses on the wellbeing of pupils and staff, featuring abundant natural light, improved ventilation, and expansive outdoor areas. The architecture, inspired by the 'forest school' ethos, blends seamlessly with the surrounding rural landscape, promoting a hands-on, learner-led approach to education, and this school truly embodies these principles." Just the other week, a couple of our team members had the exciting opportunity to explore The Stapleford Community Pavilion project, which is coming together now that the main structure is up. This innovative, multi-purpose, and energy-efficient building is set to become a vibrant hub, uniting a variety of sports and community activities. It will offer fantastic opportunities for improved health and wellbeing, along with a dedicated space for community events and young people. The pavilion will also serve as a home for the local football team, Stapleford Town FC, and other sports, wellness, and community clubs that already use the site for training and matches. In May 2023, a new chapter began for Creswell as the former Leisure Centre, which had closed in 2016 and was torn down in 2021, gave way to a fresh new heritage and wellbeing centre 🌿 This centre welcomes visitors with an entrance and a café area. Inside, there is a two-storey soft play climbing frame and a unique caving experience room, both nodding to the rich local heritage and the nearby Creswell Crags. The facility is also home to a 27-station gym, a group exercise studio, and a sports hall with two badminton courts, complete with modern changing and toilet facilities. In 2023, the Brocks Hills Visitors Centre underwent an exciting transformation, becoming the new eco-friendly headquarters for Oadby & Wigston Borough Council (OWBC). This project addressed the need to replace the Council's former headquarters, a Grade II listed building from the 1970s. The old building was not only incurring rising maintenance costs but also faced high operational expenses, and it required extensive refurbishment. In line with OWBC's commitment to sustainability, the project avoided using heavy machinery. As a result, it achieved an impressive 96% waste diversion from landfills and ensured that 76% of the spending took place within 30 miles of the site, with a substantial portion benefiting the Leicester area. We are thrilled to present the progress of Thoresby Vale School in Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire, soon to be a vibrant learning hub for children from reception to year 6 aged five to eleven years. On the edge of Sherwood Forest, this new forest school is halfway through its development. Inspired by its forest's surroundings and aligned with Nottinghamshire County Council's net zero carbon goals, the school's design will foster pupils' personal growth and development. They will have opportunities to explore and learn both inside and outside the classroom. In our past forest school projects, we've witnessed an impressive 60% of pupils learning happening outdoors, and we're excited to keep offering these innovative, future-ready educational environments. Fostering a unique and adaptable design based on forest school principals, the layout is arranged to maximise daylight views and integrate with its forest setting, creating a learning village. By minimising internal corridors, we've transformed the space into shared learning environments and practical areas like cluster libraries and home bases, all centred around the wellbeing of the students. In collaboration with Harworth Group plc, Nottinghamshire County Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council and Stepnell, we are working to bring this vision to life in September 2025. #NewSchool #Education #Construction

The construction of numerous housing developments in Rugby, with more than 1,000 new homes, has resulted in an increased need for school placements in Warwickshire. Tonight is the big night at the LABC Grand Finals Building Excellence Awards! 🎉 Last year, Oak Grange Primary School project clinched the regional title for Best Public or Community Building. Completed in August 2023, Oak Grange Primary School has brought 315 primary school places and a 39-place nursery to the vibrant and expanding community of Snelsmoor Grange and Fellow Lands Way.
