We recently donated £550 to North London Hospice, an amazing charity that provides vital care for those with life-limiting illnesses 🩷 Having worked with the organisation in the past, it was a delight to continue our support at their Big Fun Quiz in Mayfair. In recent years, AI has become a powerful tool. To understand how to better utilise it across our contracts, we are pleased to have both sponsored and attended Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT)'s Demystifying AI in Transport conference. Taking place in Hatfield and attended by our team, this year’s event saw expert speakers from across the industry talk about the challenges and opportunities AI presents, and how it can be employed to improve sustainability, decision making and more. We asked schools in London to name our brand-new electric ID Buzz vans 🚚🍃 After receiving plenty of incredible suggestions, we settled on Eco-friendly Fred, Eco Eddison and Eco Beam – winning titles suggested by Colindale Primary School and the City of London Primary Academy Islington. When our team came to visit, it was great to see the students so engaged -- we’re certain everyone involved had a brilliant time! To round off National Careers Week, our Social Value and Sustainability Apprentice Poppy held a talk about apprenticeships at the Robert Clack Secondary School 🎤 Delivered in partnership with the Construction Youth Trust, Poppy spoke to Year 10 students about careers in construction, the opportunities at Marlborough Highways, and why apprenticeships are so beneficial. Closing with an interactive task, students left inspired and informed about the career opportunities available to them in the future. We’re proud of the talented women on site and in our offices helping drive our business forward, like Olivia 👷♀️ Having been with Marlborough since 2021, Olivia supervises operatives in the field and completes administrative duties in the office. Important work that has helped our Southend-on-Sea team deliver a wide range of Traffic Management and Coastal Engineering projects over the years. From Operational Admin to Trainee Supervisor and then Supervisor in 2024 -- Olivia’s growth has been remarkable. During our recent visit to the St Thomas More Secondary School, we introduced Year 10 students to the highways construction industry. Exploring the sector’s many career paths and offering insight into apprenticeships, our Social Value and Sustainability Apprentice Poppy gave pupils plenty to think about.
