📣The week keeps on giving! NEW blog on staff #disability #data in #HigherEd and #EDI reports co-authored with the amazing Chloe Orkin MBE and hosted by Advance HE. We emphasise that openly available EDI reports, and a transparent and consistent picture on disability in these reports are essential steps in addressing inequities in the sector. We further make a case for the existence of an EDI data reporting framework and why it may not be so straightforward to develop when it comes to disability. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/dSyJGgwT

How can we meaningfully involve the public and people with lived experience in #dementia research? 🗨️ In this video, Margaret Dangoor explains why it is important to involve members of the public in research, and how we can ensure that perspectives of carers and people with dementia are at the centre of research design, execution, and dissemination. 🔍 Margaret has over thirty years' experience across the health and social care sector, connecting with carers and people with dementia and connecting them to research and services. She is the Research Involvement Manager for the #DETERMIND project, through which CPEC, with Brighton and Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex, King's College London, Newcastle University, University of York and University of Cambridge, has been investigating why care is unequal and what this means for people with dementia in terms of their health, level of comfort, happiness, and the cost of their care. October marks the anniversary of the Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs), and this year is a big one: we're celebrating 5 years 🎉 Together with our public, patient, academic, local authority, NHS provider, civil society and clinical collaborators, ARCs make a real-world impact tackling challenges facing health and social care. Did you know... 🔵 The are 15 ARCs in total across England, each with their own regional focus 🔵 We're all about collaboration (the clue is in the name!) on some of the biggest health and social care challenges we face today 🔵 Our priority focus areas include: adult social care and social work, healthy ageing, child health and maternity, mental health, multiple long term conditions, health and care inequalities, and prevention And between us, in those 5 years, we have 🔵 Worked with hundreds of thousands of participants 🔵 Collaborated with over 600 partner organisations 🔵 Carried out over 3,000 research projects 🔵 Published around 7,500 papers in peer-reviewed journals What does this all mean in terms of real-world impact? Between us we have helped to... 🙌 Improve child and adolescent mental health services https://lnkd.in/ezM8XDKf 🙌 Tackle antibiotic resistance by reducing unnecessary antibiotic use https://lnkd.in/eEx-rifx 🙌 Co-produce guidance on living well with dementia https://lnkd.in/eujsHyBe ...to name just a few examples.
