Insights from SaaStock 2024: Balancing Stakeholder Needs in High-Growth Companies 🚀 I had the privilege of attending an illuminating fireside chat with Teo Blidarus, FintechOS, & Vinoth Jayakumar of Molten Ventures. Here are some golden nuggets on navigating growth while prioritizing stakeholders: 1. Customer Trust is King 👑 Earning customer trust should be the top priority. It's the foundation for attracting talent and investors. 2. The Boomerang Effect 🪃 Creating a flexible, non-judgmental culture allows employees to explore opportunities elsewhere and potentially return with enriched experiences. This amplifies trust and value in relationships. 3. Evolving Board Dynamics 🧩 As companies scale, the board composition needs to evolve. • Include 1-2 independent board members with real scaling experience • Establish an advisory board to tackle specific challenges • Consider bringing in a chairman to create synergies and drive vision 4. Navigating Leadership Challenges 🧭 When bringing in external leaders, cultural alignment is crucial. If external hires don't work out, leverage the learning experience for internal team members who may now be ready to step up. 5. Maintaining Authenticity in Tough Times 🤝 During downsizing or restructuring, preserve relationships by being authentic, respectful, and keeping communication channels open. This builds long-term relational currency. 6. Empowering Internal Decision-Making 💪 Foster a culture where the team feels empowered to make decisions, while being open to external help when needed. This balance keeps the company agile and open to growth. Key Takeaway: Growth is a delicate dance of balancing stakeholder needs. The secret sauce? Trust, flexibility, and authentic leadership. Green last-mile delivery startup Fin - sustainable logistics has raised $7 million to expand its operations into the US. The funding will help scale the provider's e-cargo bike fleet by 500% from 100 to 600 in total. Fin will deploy these additional vehicles across the UK and New York by the end of the year. “When operating in NYC compared to London, we need to account for several key differences,” Fin CEO Rich Pleeth told Zag Daily. “Firstly, the regulatory environment differs. E-cargo bikes like the Fernhay are legal in NYC but various labour regulations must be navigated when entering any new country. “Cycling infrastructure in NYC is also significantly less developed than it is in London, which will impact route planning and delivery times.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/e72Zv94S
