Stopford Park is a new residential development based on the site of the former Stockport College Campus. The scheme, lead by Cityheart features two new apartment buildings, while a third, The Torkington Building, features the adaptive reuse of an existing structure. Later this month our own Emily McKay and Patrick Clayton are giving a lecture with The Institution of Structural Engineers on the topic: Permanent design solutions to reduce temporary works in façade retention schemes. This talk, chaired by John Price, will explore innovative (dare we say beautiful) design solutions that can improve buildability and reduce carbon intensive temporary works. As we head into March, we’re pleased to share some great news from renaissance. Patrick Clayton and Andrew Isherwood have stepped up to Associate Director. Both have done outstanding work on major engineering projects across the North West and beyond, exemplifying renaissance's values and delivering on our mission. The promotion is a highly deserved move for both of them and we look forward to their continuing journey with us.   We’ve also promoted Laura Morgan to Commercial Manager and Jane Gilsenan to Project & Systems Manager, strengthening our support team even further. Both Laura and Jane are instrumental in our business support, empowering us to do our best work and their new positions reflect their importance to the wider team.   In other news, the team has outgrown the office in Carvers Warehouse and moved into a larger space at Tribeca House, further down Dale Street. This increased capacity means we can continue delivering high-quality solutions for our clients. The final inclusion in the shortlist for Building of the Year 2024 is Viadux Phase 1. Phase 1 of the Viadux development consists of a 40-storey residential tower built over and through the Grade II listed viaduct at the rear of Manchester Central Convention Centre (MCCC). The upper storeys of the development provide 375 high quality residential apartments, with residential amenity provision to the lower three storeys including: a landscaped podium roof provided over the MCCC service yard, amenity spaces at both the service yard level and within the repurposed brick viaduct undercroft at ground level.
