Friday again so time for Manchester Flashback Friday 🏗️ This one is - without doubt - a personal favourite. The top photo was taken from the Hilton Manchester Deansgate in early 2007 looking towards what was at the time a series of car parks / low rise workshop units. In the foreground is Deansgate Train Station along with Atlas Bar on the right hand side. The bottom photo is from last week and shows the unreal transformation that has taken place over the past 18 years (the majority of which has taken place in less than 10 years!) From left to right (all by RENAKER and designed by SimpsonHaugh): Contour (51 Storeys, 494 Apartments); Deansgate Square (four buildings ranging from 40 to 67 Storeys, 1,508 Apartments); Three60 (51 Storeys, 443 apartments); The Blade (51 Storeys, 414 apartments); and, Crown Street (two buildings comprising 21 and 51 storeys, 664 apartments and 6 townhouses). Closest to the camera is the under construction 325 Deansgate by Dean Street Developments, a 357 bed aparthotel, also designed by SimpsonHaugh. The 28 storey Fusion Group 509 bed student accommodation scheme, designed by Corstorphine & Wright and currently being delivered by Domis Construction and Mayo Civil Engineering Limited is also just visible in the background. #manchester #manchesterflashbackfriday

We had a brilliant night at the Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity Gala Dinner ‘An Evening to End Homelessness’ - a thoroughly enjoyable evening meeting up with existing contacts and making new ones, and all for a wonderful cause. Our night out was very timely as earlier in the day we had been lucky enough to have our own tour of the Embassy Village MCR site which is rapidly rising out of the ground! Thank you Sid Williams for showing us around. We are very proud to support both of these causes which seek to contribute towards ending homelessness across Greater Manchester ❤️

Friday again so time for Flashback Friday 🏗️ The view this week is from the 15 storey Arthur Millwood Court, located off Chapel Street in Salford (the building is named after former Salford City Council Mayor, Arthur Millwood). The top photo is from 2006 and shows the view to the north west towards Chapel Street and St Philip’s Church. At the time this part of Salford was characterised by vacant/ derelict buildings and a number of cleared sites. The bottom photo is from late last year and shows some of the considerable change that has taken place in this part of the city over the past 20 years. Much of the regeneration has been brought forward as part of the Salford Central Masterplan - a 20 year regeneration framework between Salford City Council and English Cities Fund: a joint venture company consisting of Muse; Legal & General; and Homes England. The scheme in the centre of the picture is Vimto Gardens. Designed by Howells the development comprises 83 apartments and 14 townhouses, along with ground-floor retail and commercial units. This development was among the initial projects completed under the Salford Central Masterplan and takes its name from soft drink brand Vimto, as the site is just 400 metres from the drink's original factory site on Chapel Street. To the left is the Zenith Building, constructed during 2007/8. To the right is the ‘Greenhaus’; a nine-storey development of 96 affordable homes, designed by Buttress on behalf of English Cities Fund and Salix Homes. In the background - and just visible - is Timekeepers Square. Also designed by Buttress and forming part of Salford Central the scheme includes 36 new build Town Houses divided into six blocks around St Phillips Church. In the distance, beyond St Philip’s Church is Adelphi Wharf by Fortis Group Holdings; comprising 602 apartments and townhouses. #salford #manchesterflashbackfriday #flashbackfriday #salfordcentral
