WOW! What a month October was! Smart Works Birmingham has had its 2nd busiest month in 8 years! We have delivered a record number of #110sessions and prepared 86 women for their interviews. We are fortunate to work with some amazing referral partners that send incredible women to us. It is wonderful to hear the feedback from all our clients and referral partners on just how much they have valued the service! Thank you to the #bestvolunteerteaminthecity for always delivering such an exceptional and professional service! The ladies from Embark Learning’s, current West Bromwich Health and Social Care cohort, have been to visit Smart Works this week! Can you tell? They are absolutely buzzing from the support they have received from the team at Smart Works Birmingham They received great interview techniques support and also the amazing outfits they are wearing. The Fairway Team are meeting the learners today for a ‘Getting to Know You’ interview so they can find out about their future aspirations for working in the Healthcare sector. The group are currently attending our 4 week course at Wood Lane Community Centre. Lovely to meet Sarah Arnott at the Smart Works Birmingham centre this morning. Thankyou Avison Young │ UK for your kind clothing donations you collected on your 'Day of Giving' - a brilliant initiative which we're fortunate to be part of. At Smart Works we provide a dressing and interview preparation service for unemployed women. We harness the power of fantastic clothing and inspirational coaching to empower and build confidence in the women that we see. Another amazing Smart Works Birmingham event at x+why yesterday. Body language expert Adrianne Carter delivered a very compelling presentation on our facial expressions and body posture that has us all reflecting on how we subconsciously communicate with each other. And as always there was a chance to shop at our #fashionasaforceforgood sale and raise money for the charity to deliver its #interview preparation service to more women across the #westmidlands. We were once again supported by the enthusiastic and determined corporate volunteer team from Goldman Sachs Birmingham. So lovely to see so many of our regular #supporters and #volunteer team in attendance. Congratulations to Beth Margetson on winning the most fabulous Russell and Bromley #Spotlight boots. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Finally a huge thank you to George Cochrane and his wonderful team for always making us feel so welcome and providing us with excellent service. Its the final day of the Big Give Women & Girls match funding campaign today. Every donation made to Smart Works Birmingham today before midday will be doubled instantly by the #WGMF. What we do at Smart Works is just the beginning for the women we support, getting into employment has a transformational impact on their lives and also the lives of their families and communities. We are over half way in reaching our target of £20,000 to help us reach 920 women this year succeed at interview and get into employment. Getting a job is just the start for the women we support, the positive domino effect of working provides identity and sense of purpose, financial independence, being part of a community and being able to create the life that you want. It's fantastic to be part of the #WGMF campaign organised by The Big Give, so many worthwhile charities will benefit from collaboratively raising awareness of the many issues that women face today.
